The thing is that such group laughter at an individual sets the UN up as an unsympathetic character in this story. Deep down, no one likes bullies but other bullies.

In most stories, it doesn't end well for the unsympathetic character. History is a story.

The next few years should be interesting.

Oh no no no. The clapping was accompanied by more laughter because in the tradition of the entertainment of a court jester, when he follows up with a greater act of hilarity, he also receives a reward of applause.

Lol, trump is the most unsympathetic, disrespectful person. He deserves every bit of ridicule & disdain coming at him. In fact, he earned it.

Trump speaks at UN

It would have been far better for all of us had he not gone.

Trump thought he was commanding the stage as a great American eagle with wings wide spread. Most laughed at him as an old cuckoo, molting and way off-key. A disconnect Trump shares with his diehards.

A Minority of the People. And diminishing. Trump won a minority of citizen's votes in a highly suspect election (Putin, Russians, Comey and all that). And that's who he caters to along with his cronies. Not the majority of Americans. Trump is only too happy to throw anybody under the bus and, if he had someone more desirable to take his base's place, he would dump them like yesterday's garbage. But, he doesn't, so you're good for now.

Pro-Americans and ALL those with good sense can't help but react with ironic laughter to his antics. Failing, clueless Trump. He won by a fluke, but Trump is not America. We, as a country, are nowhere near that bad though some of its wrong-headed voters were. The world, like most Americans, can't believe we have, so sadly, fallen this low.

Make America Grimace Again (and again and again and again and again, ad nauseum). And now the world. Oy!

Depends whether your filter and mental receptors are set for pro-Trump (like his) or pro-reality like sensible people. People walking the beach don't want to precipitate a disagreement or altercation on vacation in a different country. Trumpers are, after all, known more for rabidity than sensibility. (A poster's posting history can generally give a good overview of how one's filter is set.)

Yes they laugh, until they need some help from us. I even knew and expected this reaction when he was addressing the crowd. That being said most of these countries have a lot more serious issues to deal with than making fun of Trump.

Default Trump, trapped, is slammed at the U.N.

That must be a novelty for Trump - to have to sit there and listen to the accusations.
