If we never invaded Iraq on false pretenses, Afghanistna wouldn't be such a trainwreck.

The war has been essentially over.

In the long run, Pakistan is determined not to let hostile foreign governments control Afghanistan since it's bordered on the other side by India.

I have mixed feelings about Afghanistan

I don't, I think it highly unlikely we'll accomplish anything we didn't in the last 17 years and it's long past time we bring all Americans home.

The great game theory says that whoever controls Afghanistan will have huge influence on central Asian and European countries. So, sucks for Afghanistan, this country has been, is now, and forever will be a war torn country.

I don't agree for a second that people "over there" are savages, but I believe experiences and life style have taught them to be senseless. In short, People resort to violence because their moral codes . current living condition demand it.

People over there will always view foreigners as foreign intruders. That is just a fact, so they will fight till their last breath.

The world sees U.S. forces in Afghanistan since October 2001 without achieving decisive victory. It has been approximately 17 years and they assume that we have lost the war against a bunch of untrained clowns with AK-47’s and Russian RPG’s.

This is not the reality. The Taliban kept recruiting and expanding. They were getting fresh recruits from within Afghanistan and surrounding countries, mainly Pakistan.

All these being said, we (u.s.) simply are not interested in Afghan Taliban anymore. America is focused on reconciliation is because the Taliban is becoming friendly with and possibly receiving covert support from Russia, Iran, and obviously Pakistani elements. Another point is that ISIS is starting their presence in Afghanistan. It is possible that the Taliban issue is now on the back burner and not really considered a core interest anymore.

As for the soldiers, well, I am not a military expert so don't accuse me of pretending to be one. I DO know a lot of combat Marines (this is just a fact) They don't fight for the politics, politicians, generally speaking. They fight for the people standing next to them. Generally speaking.

Lone survivor is just a movie. It is based on a FAILED mission. I have no doubts that that guy wanted revenge, and I don't blame him if he does. His whole team were killed. So it is understandable. Again, they fight for the people standing next to them.
