Powergrab? Republicans already had the power. Dems got wiped out since 2010 at the State (legislator and Governor) and National in every type of election, other than the Presidency. That's called given an offsetting mandate to Obama. Plus Obama was in his Lame Duck Year.

Less than a year left, election soon, no control of Congress whatsover. Even his own party resented him for never helping them out.

I'm about done with the live stream and need to leave but there were several relevant points ... in addition to Collins' saying the the standard of "more likely than not" wasn't met:

(1) Collins did not criticize Ford for the accusation, calling it a "valid accusation." She separated it from the third accusation that should not have found its way into the Senate record.

(2) She chose not to criticize Feinstein but reserved her ire for the leaker of the letter who created both this "dysfunctional circus" and damaged Ford as a "survivor."

Collins called for a review of the Senate conformational process, saying that the leaker may have inadvertently led to a functional improvement.

Agree ... this matter should not be a contest between the rights of the accuser (by disparaging women etc., making their coming forward so profoundly unpleasant that it does not happen) VS the rights of the accused (presumption of innocence in the absence of proof).

How that dilemma plays out in a Senate confirmation process needs to be resolved for any future confirmations, per Collins ... and, after this, who could disagree.

I don't know about that. What Wesley Snipes got threatened with incarceration with Trump has been getting away with for decades. Color first, money second.

What do they care? They know the black vote is a sure thing every time. Liberals screw over their own pet groups all the time when it benefits them.

Looks like Collins handed her Senate seat to whoever runs against her.

Keep up your false accusations against the conservatives. It's good for the GOP when closed minded leftists attack without any facts to back them up.

Well now that this is over we can get back to the real stuff: the Mueller probe. I've missed it.

USA is very PC focused. If this were a traditional culture they would call this "unfounded allegation" in the native language, not a "credible and valid accusation". Language and words are important. Here, we coddle folks with blatant loaded lies to coax their ego and protect their feelings.
