Strike militarily? No. The lower 48 is simply too large to invade - it covers four time zones. THEN you have Alaska and Hawaii... Can't do it. Same reason we can't invade Iran over their nuclear program. It's simply too big. And the 2nd Amendment insures that not only would an adversary have to deal with our military, it would have to deal with our armed citizenry as well.
Strike with propaganda and disinformation? Absolutely - they already are. Russia created the Internet Research Agency (55 Savushkina Street, St. Petersburg, Russia) specifically to use GRU-collected intelligence against the US in what the Russians call 'active measures' (we call it propaganda and disinformation). The GRU recognizes our political polarizations and feeds that data to the IRA. The IRA exploits those divisions, motivating Americans to hate the other side even more than they do now. Classic active measures. Read any book about the KGB. They've been doing it all over the world since at least the 1950s.
Interestingly, that's one of the issues Bob Mueller is wrestling with because the IRA was the source of a lot of the 'fake news' that flooded America just prior to the 2016 elections. (Remember 'Pizzagate' - the allegation that Clinton was running a child sex ring out of a Washington pizza parlor? Came straight from Savushkina Street.)
Absolutely they will. And so far the Republicans seem to be on board with it. And given what they are doing, when the Democrats have some power again (and they will), I foresee it continuing to get worse.
But folks prodding us, and making us angry at each other are making what could be a very very fundamental error. If we get the right leadership, this country will turn on those doing this to us from the outside, and we will make them regret it like nothing they have ever imagined.
Putin was responsible for this Kavanaugh smear campaign?
At a guess, I would say while he is not responsible, his team has probably done a lot of effort into inflaming both sides of it. The Kavanaugh thing isnt a smear campaign, and to me it seems like Dr Ford is being honest......but I would say the sheer insanity of some of he efforts to smear both her and Kavanaugh in ways that inflame the other sides anger....may have a Russian component to them.
