Trump knows very little history, so why would he know he didn't 'make' it a holiday. He does not remember what he does from one day to the next anyhow.
He sure as hell remembers what he did Saturday: celebrated SCOTUS pick II.

And the clock is ticking on poor old RBG. (Note: this is not SNL):

Ummm...

1791 was post-revolution.

The U.S. had exactly 4 years of liberty; 1787-1791.

Nationalists aren't commies. That's just silly talk.

Why not celebrate the countless Portuguese, Spanish, British and French fisherman who knew of the existence of the Americas long before Columbus? What about the Polynesians who sailed across a much larger ocean to reach South America? There are Roman and African artifacts in the New World, shall we celebrate them too?

Or maybe we should celebrate the first humans to come to the Americas, when this truly was vast wilderness. Their journey here was the very definition of courage and resilience.
Because THEY did not establish the "beachhead" for colonization. Columbus was an important figure in the colonial era of history. It isn't the intention of the celebration to discount other people doing stuff. Its that HE was the one who was ultimately the agent/engine for European colonization of the New World, so good or bad, he's the one that is recognized. None of those others are really even a footnote in any documented events.

The first humans in the Americans came from Europe as well btw. They just did not stay.

This is for those wondering what the indian wars were about.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ies-alive.html
Read it. By the 19th century the Comanche had defeated nearly all the other tribes and controlled over 2 million sq. miles of the midwest. They could not be negotiated with.
Note the revisionist history by hollywood.

They most certainly are. They want completely nationalized (i.e. State-run) industries and economy.

Nationalists are just Marxists in denial.

No they just don't want open borders and citizenship handed out like candy to foreigners, Or any foreign control over their nation. Everything after that is negotiable.

Anyone who was born here is a native American. There were no original ones as all of our ancestors migrated here from somewhere else.

I remember the Columbus day storm from 1962. That's the significance of Columbus day to me. I was nine at the time.

Nationalists are anti-capitalist and pro-State.

Citizenship is a ruse to keep people under control of the State.

Nationalist might not like trade imbalances but that doesn't mean anti-capitalist. I'm pro-nations. And a nation is related (non-diverse) people living independently within a defined and sovereign territory.
