Thats because the community policing model is still in effect and the older criminals were taken off the streets and then "aged out" of violent crime while inside.

Stop and frisk is a great way to deal with a known population of chronic offenders. It isn't designed as a dragnet . Its not called "stop and frisk EVERYBODY". Its a technique that was used as a tool against a specific criminal element. And it worked very very well.

However, I'm a little surprised at some of the comments here considering this is mainly a tactic used in areas that are about as blue as a smurf.
Agreed. Stopping and frisking is infringing on a persons rights. Like you said the areas mainly affected are "as blue as smurf". As long as they are concentrated in those areas its really a Democratic problem, which means it will never be addressed.

Of course Obama and company demonizing Law Enforcement caused the police to back off, only exacerbating the problem. Obama was probably the only president that could have pulled off some sort of resolution. Its a shame that the opportunity was lost.

"All the Minorities". Like how you try to include all minorities. Only a sub set of one minority is responsible for more than half of the gun related killings in the US. Not non black Hispanics, Asians, Indians, Native Americans, or Aboriginals, Maybe the highest employment rate ever among young black men, under tRump will help turn this problem around

And now that Trump has a puppet majority on the Supreme Court, this will just be the first of personal freedoms and protections he will propose be eliminated.

If a cop is on patrol in a high crime area and he sees some nefarious looking guys of any colour hanging out what is wrong with stopping to have a chat with them and a possible pat down?
Nothing is wrong with that, it is already established 4th AM decisional law.

The "possible" pat down is the key here, not arbitrary pat down.

Thanks to Trump and his goons we will have the government controlling even more of what we can wear. Trump supporters want a huge, restrictive government, enforced by a police state.

It is amazing how many claim to support the Constitution and really dont in the end.
Just like they claim to be against crony capitalism and yet or silent when it comes to doing anything about lobbyists or the gov picking winners and losers.

If that is the case then why don't the Police branch out to the neighborhoods that have less crime and perform the stop and frisk?

It was stopped because it was seen as "profiling" as not politically correct.

This is why when at the airport the TSA is required to pat down old ladies and kids. We know, they know that the profile of a would be hijacker is not that old man in a wheelchair but they need to give the appearance that they are not discriminating against young dark skinned possibly muslim men.

In these dangerous inner city neighborhoods the people know who is dealing the drugs, the cops know who the bad guys are. Stop and Frisk puts a bit if fear in these criminals that at any time they could be stopped and end up in jail so maybe they will stop carrying those drugs or that weapon that they are so willing to use on a rival.

If my neighborhood was rife with crime I would want the cops to do everything they could to curb it.
