Roberts has been itching to end affirmative action for some time.
Do you think when he gets another chance he will kill it once and for all.
Or will it continues to be "tailored?
And if Roberts does kill AA will the Dems be done with it?
In Cal. there is the anti-AA Prop 209. But when the Dems held a super majority I was certain they would repeal Prop. 209 but the Asians complained loudly and that was the end of it. No more talk of repealing 209.
So.... Would the Dem leadership be secretly happy such a hot button had been taken off the table?

For starters, who is Dr Roberts
As to AA, Democrats love such programs as it helps to advance their goal of divide and conquer. AA divides us based on race, gender and to some extent class.
While it might now be exposed in CA because of the yellow people standing against it for racism, it is alive and well in the plans of national Democrats/leftists.

Dems will do as they always do.
They will figure out what will do the most damage to the country, and then, support it.
1. Affirmative action is on its way out, though I have the feeling that they will not have the balls to kill it outright, but will continue to pare it back, and back, and back some more.
Proponents now have to explain to whites why it is a necessary evil in a country with ever increasing numbers of minorities that DID NOT have ancestors who were discriminated against, but who came here of their own free will, even breaking the laws to get here.
Conversely, some of the minority population is Asian, and suffer more greatly than whites by the policy. So a coalition of whites and Asians will demand its demise.
2. Democrats will do as they always do: cry racism and try to gain political points. It will backfire spectacularly, driving more whites and some Asians to the Republican party.

`
AA is in direct opposition to the Cvil Rights Act and SHOULD be abolished.
"The CivilRights Act of 1964 (Pub.L. 88–352, 78 Stat. 241, enacted July 2, 1964) is a landmark civil rights and US labor law in the United States that outlaws discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin."
I suspect Roberts will end AA or render it toothless and the Dem leadership will be secretly happy.
One less hot button issue to worry about.
In Cal. I was surprised the Hispanic leadership in the Dem party didn't put up a fight to remove Prop. 209. There was a lot of talk about repealing Prop 209 when the Dems succeeded in getting a super majority. However, it that didn't last long. The Asian Dems complained and the issue almost immediately disappeared.
There has been no talk since of removing Prop. 209.
there was a time when AA was necessary, but that time has long past. it is time now for AA to go away like the dinosaurs. we cannot give a few groups special consideration only to discriminate against the rest. we must treat EVERYONE equally. if we dont we then fall into the same hole the democrats have of identity politics, and we start using those certain groups to play off one against the other.
this needs to stop people, we cannot judge people based on one or two aspects of physical or other characteristics. we cant say black people are one thing, or gays are another. we have to treat people as individuals and base any judgements we might make on their character and their actions.

Why are White people so threatened by affirmative action but not by legacy admissions? We have NEVER seen a White person take a school to court bc they give preferential treatment to the offspring of alumni. But give Black and Brown kids a chance, and they'll cry about how unfair ave discriminatory schools are being.
