Instances of Democrat harassment, accusations, and hysteria have been soaring since they lost the Nov. 2016 election, and normal Americans have been reacting predictably: They are increasingly staying silent about their own personal views and opinions, for fear of being accused of everything from "racism", "sexism", supporting the rich", and every other politically-correct bromide demanded by the left.
In addition to normal people's reluctance to attend rallies, peaceful marches, and even football games, for fear of harassment and attack by leftist groups such as Antifa and harassment squads encouraged by politicians such as Maxine Waters (D-CA), people are even becoming wary of merely speaking their minds on common issues.
The country is looking more and more like a far-left dictatorship in its reluctance to say things unacceptable to the political left here - reluctance common to such countries as the Soviet Union and communist China.

Most ordinary people found it unbearable to live under communism in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. The reasons varied: shortages of consumer goods, incessant propaganda, restrictions on travel. Nothing was more psychologically exhausting than the constant pressure to watch every word one said, and to pretend to believe things one did not, for fear of negative repercussions. Dissidents called this “double morality” or “double consciousness.” It drove people crazy. Actually, it drove some to suicide.
Only among trusted family and friends was it possible to speak one’s mind, yet even that was not guaranteed. Of all aspects of totalitarian life, citizens of the former Eastern Bloc say, this is the hardest to explain to those who grew up in the democratic West.
Until now, perhaps. A new study of political attitudes in the United States offers stunning evidence that most Americans censor themselves, except among people they regard as like-minded, on a bundle of sensitive topics: immigration and immigrants; race and racism; gay, lesbian and gender issues; and Islam and Muslims.
(snip)
It found that between 51 and 66 percent of Americans agree there is “pressure to think a certain way about” each of the aforementioned topics, with immigration seen as the least sensitive and Islam the most. Meanwhile, 68 percent report that “it is acceptable for me to express what I think” about race, or Islam, only among “people who are like me.” On immigration, 73 percent feel that way; on gay, lesbian and gender issues, the figure is 70 percent.

Wow, the hysteria, as it were, seems to be on the other foot. I have seen more conspiracy theory, imminent civil war, false flag foaming from the RW on C-D and other forums than Left Wing "hysteria".

Could you explain what "conspiracy theory" you have seen posted here? Specifically.
Have you watched the videos of the leftists physically Trump supporters and women and children?
There are liberals living in the deep south who have similar fears and stay silent about politics when they are out in public. Especially around people in certain red hats. We've seen the MOB behavior at his rallies. I'd be afraid to express my real beliefs around those people.
And if the right is going to continue to pretend that Antifa is part of the Democratic party, then we will have to insist that the neo-Nazi skinheads are part of the Republican party. It's the same kind of falsehood.

Dear OP you have misinterpreted the article and provided an extremely misleading and inflammatory thread title as well as a lopsided conclusion.
To discerning readers the piece is informative and the conclusion is not at all what the OP implies. This thread and OP post is continuing to set an example of being a part of the problem. The article discusses causes and social solutions.
Good read for those who desire to be a part of the solution and not the problem.

Reason: clarity

So you are equating Trump supporters cheering at rallies (as Barry supporters did at his rallies) and calling out "Lock her up" to this?? Show us videos of conservative mob attacks on anyone? Surely you didn't pass up a chance to video it?
QAnon, Pizzagate, Deep State, to name the big three.
Can you post proof that these are conspiracy theories not just your opinion that they are conspiracy theories?
