America has laws on immigration. America has a border patrol to enforce those laws. If you do not like the laws, then change them but let the system work.
If 1/10 of the monies were spent on beefing up the border patrol that has been spent on political ad lies, on moving the military around, on proposals for the wall, or even the cost of the proposed wall, then the border would be secure.
Right now we have 2000 troops in Syria fighting terrorism. Trump is sending 5,000 to the American border and talking about sending 15,000 "to fight the invaders", which is all lies. American troops can not engage in military action within our borders. That is on purpose so the government can not send troops to kill its own people. All they can do is drive and do manual labor. Apparently a few unarmed, indigent people in South America are ten times the threat of terrorists in the middle east that have the support of numerous foreign powers.
And of course every time one foreigner does manage to get into the country because of overworked, understaffed immigration officials, and commits a hideous crime, Trump says it is the Democrats fault.
It is the governments fault, and right now that is a republican house, a republican senate, a republican executive branch, that refuses to put money where it is needed to enforce the system we already have because they do not think that will buy them votes. Instead they would rather use scare tactics while fattening their own wallets.

Agreed. If a person is asking for asylum, we should at least find out why. When people leave their home countries, they do it for a reason, and it's usually a good one: fleeing, violence, war, extreme poverty, whatever.

Let us ask you, should we let anyone in who claims to be an asylum seeker? Where does it end? Do you want hundreds of millions of people pouring in? Are you willing to give up your lifestyle to support these people?
Being in a state of poverty is not a legitimate reason to seek asylum, no matter what the msm tells you. Not wanting those people here is not heartless, it's common sense. We have no responsibility to take these people in and care for them.

There are proper channels for admission to the US as described through immigration laws. Somehow the left has forgotten that we do admit immigrants to the US for a variety of reasons. Most citizens just want to have applicants for citizenship done legally, so that we can prevent a flood of criminals or terrorists to the US. All of the people in the caravan are free to apply for US citizen via proper channels.
