These California-bashing threads really should be merged.

Do people wake up in the morning in Texas or Arizona or anywhere really, and just decide it's a good day to bash California? What is the problem? Envy maybe?

Delusional defending of California is a disease. Stating facts isn't bashing. People wake up in Texas, Arizona, and many other states pleased that they left a sinking Titanic. More people have left the state than any other state by far. That includes liberals taking their Ca. policies to other states and cities and people of those places aren't very happy about it.

California the once great state I used to brag about has turned into a monstrosity. The "sixth largest economy in the world" can't even deal with it's potholes. Wtf is Ca. doing with all that money besides supporting millions of illegal aliens? California doesn't care about Americans. Much of it is already a 3rd world hellhole. Drive around L.A. County and see for yourself. Why do nuts defend it? Do you love homeless, illegals, the COL here, the ridiculous taxes, traffic, gangs, Welfare, grafitti?

No it's not envy, that's for damn sure. We are self employed and work from home. We left New York and could have lived wherever we wanted to. California or any other blue state was never on our list. We had enough of putting up with all of your Left wing crap while living in New York. It's left an indelible mark on our psyche. Too bad that you just can't accept that there are so many that are diametrically opposed to just about everything that you stand for. I've made it my mission in life to fight your social policies wherever they rear their ugly head wherever and whenever I can. You should be proud of me after all Liberals are all about political activism, aren't they? I would like nothing better than to have the United States divided into two separate countries. You can live under the policies that you espouse, and leave the rest of us the hell alone. This way we can preserve our Constitutional Republic and you can have your socialist aristocracy. Sound fair?

It stands to reason that if California were such a wonderful place to live then there wouldn't be threads like this bashing it? I'm now living in Arizona amongst many Ex Californians, we have a lot in common about our respective states and why we're so grateful to have had the opportunity to get the hell out of there once and for all. The only real difference between New York and California, is the weather, the scenery and they are on opposite coasts. Otherwise they are two peas in a pod.

Quote:
A Constitutional Republic is a form of government where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people, representatives mandated to govern according to existing constitutional law. It is because of this mandate that the elected class in a Constitutional Republic is limited in their power over the citizenry. The United States of America was created as and intended to survive as a Constitutional Republic.

Our Constitutional Republic is separated into three separate but equal branches of government; the Executive, Legislative and Judicial, represented by the Presidency, Congress and the Courts. Because of this no branch has a rein on absolute power thus assuring that there will be checks and balances to the governmental system and protection for the rule of law.

Through the elected representation employed by our Constitutional Republic the influence of the majority is tempered by protections for individual rights as mandated by constitutional law. Our form of government is deliberate in its attempt to thwart majoritarianism, thereby protecting political dissent and individuals and minority groups from the "tyranny of the majority" by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population. The power of the majority of the people is checked by limiting that power to electing representatives who are required to legislate with limits of overarching constitutional law which a simple majority cannot modify.

"A pure unbridled democracy is a political system in which the majority enjoys absolute power by means of democratic elections. In an unvarnished democracy, unrestrained by a constitution, the majority can vote to impose tyranny on themselves and the minority opposition. They can vote to elect those who will infringe upon our inalienable God-given rights. Thomas Jefferson referred to this as elected despotism in Notes on the State of Virginia (also cited in Federalist 48 by Madison):"

You're from the west coast of Europe? Why don't you just stick to your own problems instead of interjecting about what is going on over here? We are a sovereign nation. We don't need foreigners telling us how to govern our country in fact there are too many of them over here already.

As if you don't have an agenda? If you didn't you wouldn't be responding on this thread? There are Left-wing radicals too, you know? The fact is that just about every thinking person has one. I do and at least I'll admit it instead of acting like a self righteous hypocrite.

It's none of your business. I write what I want, as long as it doesn't violate the CD rules...

I might say the same thing about all those Americans that keep sticking their noses into European affairs...

Amazing that so much of the technology we use comes from the world’s fifth largest economy... or as the OP says “failed medieval state.â€

Same.

The state certainly has issues, particularly localized ones in the metro areas. But good Lord, the hyperbolic nonsense that is spouted here about the state...
