Any rational person would assume a almost certain probability that the FBI would have surveillance and/or spies around them in that situation (unless you believe the FBI would allow Russians to infiltrate US presidential elections without any form of surveillance or investigation.)
No, no I would never expect that an administration would send spies into the opposing party's presidential campaign.

It's not a stretch at all, that is exactly what a title-1 warrant allows. A title-1 warrant is only authorized against foreign agents actively engaged in illegal activity, which is why they had to use the dossier claims to tell the court that Carter Page was a foreign agent.

Now ask yourself this, if they had credible evidence that Carter Page was a foreign agent actively engaged in illegal activity, why hasn't Page been charged? Why is Page suing the DNC which would leave him open to discovery. Would a Russian agent leave himself open to discovery in a lawsuit, of course not.

Carter Page is not, and never was a Russian spy.

How about documents that the FBI has submitted to the court, is that credible enough for you?

Because that is the source.

Yep you're right about people needing to go to jail for a long time. Anyone who illegally colluded with a foreign government to win an election or committed campaign finance fraud needs to go to jail. Lock them all up.

The problem arises once he was elected President and it continued even after being sworn into office.

Once elected, the President-elect starts getting highly classified intel to make the transition as smooth as possible.
At the point of being elected in the early morning of Nov. 9th, 2016, all spying on Trump became espionage. A crime punishable by death.

They are now playing it off they were looking for Russians..... That is espionage.

They never charged Page several years ago either, the warrants are for mostly gathering information and doesn’t mean they are guilty.
