Insurance companies don't provide healthcare services. The collect money and pool it and pay part of that money out to the people who need it. There's no need to "improve" services of collecting money and paying it out.

Patients who were scheduled for surgery have to find a new doctor and start the process all over. Patients who were admitted, have to be transferred to other hospitals.

These two hospitals are big hospitals and not some small medical center.

Socialist health care is failing badly.

The choice of a primary doctor has to be in a certain zip code. Good luck to people who don’t live in the best areas. You will be stuck with the government telling you who your doctor will be!

Open your eyes as socialist don’t care about you. They care about other people’s money and run it down the drain. The socialist leaders will make sure they don’t battle same plan as you or they make sure thylive in the best areas.

Amsterdam was always part of Western, good society and is now becoming a healthcare poverty society as the system is completely broke.

Long wait time for treatments and for even seeing a doctor!

Careful what you wish for. Obama praises the Dutch and German system!

Obama praises a broken system and wished that on you!

30 healthcare facilities in the U.S. filing bankruptcy. Our system ain't so great either.

BTW, those two hospitals were privately held, not state run.

This has got to be one of the dumbest posts ever!!!

Does the fact that the hospitals are privately owned and declared bankruptcy means something to you???........ like.... IT'S NOT SOCIALISM WHEN HOSPITALS ARE PRIVATELY OWNED!!!

Hello McFly?!! Anybody there??

United States life expectancy- 78.8 years
Netherlands life expectancy- 81.6 years
https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/usa/life-expectancy
https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/...ife-expectancy

United States per capita healthcare costs- $10,348
Netherlands per capita healthcare costs- $5,198
https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/...e-than-the-u-s

Citizens in the Netherlands live on average 2.8 years longer and spend 1/2 the money on healthcare as citizens in America.

But republicans don't use statistics like life expectancy or healthcare costs to judge healthcare systems, instead republicans judge a healthcare system by who supports it (and if Obama supports a healthcare system its automatically bad and dangerous.)

Speaking of bankruptcy, according to Harvard 2 million Americans are bankrupted from medical bills every year.

Isn't US healthcare wonderful? ....only if you're a multi-millionaire or billionaire that can afford it.

For everyone else not so much. Even if you're a millionaire, you can still go bankrupt from medical bills.
That is how crazy expensive US healthcare has become.

Harvard Study: 60% of Bankruptcies Caused by Health Problems
Most victims are middle-class and have health insurance

By Truman Lewis

06/04/2009 | ConsumerAffairs | Senior News
A new study finds that more than 60% of personal bankruptcies in the United States in 2007 were caused by health-care costs associated with a major illness. That's a 50% increase in the number of bankruptcies blamed on medical expenses since a similar study in 2001.

In an article published in the August 2009 issue of the American Journal of Medicine, the results of the first-ever national random-sample survey of bankruptcy filers shows that illnesses and medical bills contribute to a large and increasing share of bankruptcies.

"The US health care financing system is broken, and not only for the poor and uninsured," said Harvard Medical School researcher David U. Himmelstein, M.D. "Middle class families frequently collapse under the strain of a health care system that treats physical wounds, but often inflicts fiscal ones."

How do you arrive at this cost ?
"Netherlands per capita healthcare costs- $5,198" ?

It is impossible to figure out since everyone's income is different. As far as i can tell, the national insurance tax is 27%. From this chart, it looks like anyone making over 68k euro is taxed at 51%. Which includes the 27%
How is this half of what we pay here ? And don't forget the VAT of 21% on goods. 6% VAT on food, drink toiletries.
It doesn't sound value added unless you make less than 68k euro. So basically the upper income people fund the program.

Yeah...no thanks. Like i said before, our system is definitely flawed but jumping to those high tax rates to fund "healthcare for all !" , that would be a big negative.

Your data is old and even pre-Obamacare. BK directly from medical bills happens of course but not so common.

?

You take the total cost of healthcare and divide it by all the people in the country.

Don't worry. Our foreign aid is probably already on the way.
