Singer Sinead O’Connor has revealed she has converted to Islam.

In a recent tweet to fans, the 51-year-old Irish singer revealed that she has also changed her name to Shuhada Davitt – after legally changing her name to Magda Davitt last year.

The singer also posted a recent image of herself appearing to wear a hijab.

"This is to announce that I am proud to have become a Muslim," she wrote in a tweet on October 19.

"This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian’s journey. All scripture study leads to Islam. Which makes all other scriptures redundant.

"I will be given (another) new name. It will be Shuhada’."

Thoughts? I ask because I don't have any on this matter.

Good for her.

It's been decades since she was relevant so I'm not sure how this news was worthy of a new thread in the political section of City-Data....

But I wish her the best and hope she has a great rest of her life.

Interesting turn of events since ripping up a picture of the pope.

Seems odd but then again she seemed odd. Wonder how the crewcut plays to her newfound compatriots.

Yep, hope she is happy. This affects my life in no way, so I really have no opinion on it either way.

White people who convert to Islam are always goofy.

Let's be real here: converting to Islam is taking a time machine back 1000 years. It's the most backward religion.

Don't care. Religion is a choice.

She's just an attention seeking non-entity.

I never even liked her as a singer, and I really couldn't care about her religion or her life.
