With all the talk of the problems that the latest caravan of migrants from South and Central America heading to our border poses for America are you more concerned for what this group of several thousand threatens to your everyday life or are you more concerned that an act of terrorism will affect you or America.
The migrants have been viewed as a horde, an invasion force but as far as we know they are not coming to murder us in the name of their twisted ideology, they are coming for opportunity, jobs, safety, welfare etc..
Both illegal aliens and terrorism pose a threat to our country but one could be described as a death by a thousand cuts while the other is generally a quick explosive death.
Which are you more concerned with or is there another worry on your mind such as an active shooter?
Neither. My main concerns are economic disparities, the environment, and health care. Terrorism has had such a negligible impact it’s not even in my top ten list of concerns. Neither is illegal immigration, but that might be different if I lived closer to the border.
A family member nearly killed by illegal alien driver. Some locals killed by illegal aliens. Some friends pay has decreased because cheap labor. Some guys profiting big time. So...oh, and those pesky mystery viruses
Obviously illegal immigration is a greater threat to daily life.
But they're both bad and its a bit like asking if you're more concerned about a heart attack or a stroke. They're really both caused by the same thing ; the failure of the government to provide security to the nation, through law and policy and enforcement.
Both terrorism and illegal immigration are very bad for ANY country, but the latter has far more disastrous and long lasting ramifications that come with it.
And to the OP, I think an active shooter is classified as an act of domestic terrorism, or it at least should be.
I’m not particularly worried about either. Yes, they are problems, and we should deal with them, but life is full of problems. I think the growing income inequality and increasing oligarchic attitudes are much graver threats to the republic.
