You framed this well.

Has nothing to do with red or blue.

The Chicago homicide rate does not clear top ten.

Only thing for certain is that if you get shot, you have a much better chance of surviving if it happens in Chicago. The Level 1 Trauma Centers are the most experienced in the US.

Hear that folks? We don't clear the top ten but the shootings here do make our trauma centers the most experienced in all of the U.S.

I don't know where you've been for the past 6 decades or so, but the national media has been doing nothing different regarding murders in Chicago or any other city than it has for the past, well, 6 decades or so.

When Eisenhower was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Kennedy was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Johnson was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Nixon was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Ford was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Carter was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Reagan was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Bush #1 was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Clinton was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Bush #2 was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
When Obama was president the national media did not usually cover stuff like this.
And now, while Trump is president the national media is not usually covering stuff like this.

Get it? It's got nothing to do with the current president. The national media just does not usually cover stuff like this. It's a local news item.

Then what was all that 8 years of hope and change about?

More killings? That’s the only change we’ve seen

You would think the most powerful black man the world has ever seen for 8 years would’ve inspired his own constituents to stop shooting each other, I guess not.

Welp, who knew a black president would leave blacks worse off?

Does national media routinely cover murders in St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit,NOLA, Birmingham, Hartford, Milwaukee, DC, KC and so on?

They and more, have higher homicide rates than Chicago.

How many cities experience 50.2 million overnight visitors in a year, who spend gobs of money on hotels, dining, shopping and entertainment and none of them get shot?

The shootings in Chicago are physically removed from areas where most people work and gather. While the populations in these areas are black, not all black communities experience chronic violence.

I continue to ask those who see this through political lenses, what would a Republican Major do that a Democrat has not?
