Today at work, a group of us began discussing politics. A woman I work with lost her 20 year old God-daughter who was an intern in the north tower, so as you can imagine, it was a difficult conversation to have with her present. As the conversation evolved, I couldn't believe what my coworkers were saying. "The Govt. knew about 9/11, it's impossible for the trade centers to fall the way they did from such a hit, the engineer said on an interview with ABC that the building was constructed to withstand an even tougher hit, etc." I tried my hardest to debate the issue, mostly because I couldn't sit there and accept the accusations that our government would do nothing to stop an attack on our most innocent citizens.
I guess I'm surprised because these people are incredibly intelligent (whom I thought were very Republican), and the vast majority of them agreed that something fishy had gone on. Even my co-worker who lost someone agreed something wasn't right.
I felt that a thread on this issue was appropriate here. Lets share ideas, not attack or insult each other for what we think. We're all adults here.
I don't think the government knew about this, that is just a bunch of conspiracy theorists who have been doing this for hundreds of years. The kind of people that fall into this category are the kind of people who search for aliens and think everything in this world is a conspiracy. I could find "consipracy evidence" for anything that has happened. That's like saying the US planned pearl harbor just so they could get in on world war 2. Its just a bunch of nonsense that grew popularity on the internet.
I don't believe the Government's story on 9/11. I think the reason why some people don't think the Government could be behind 9/11, is because they don't want to believe it. They don't want to believe anyone could be that evil, esp. the country they live in.
Kidyankee, conspiracies are very seductive to a lot of people. real life is much more boring and uninteresting, but a conspiracy has mystery to it, which adds some excitement to real life. In this day and age, with the internet, 24 hour cable news, radio and everything else, if this truly was a conspiracy, some evidence of it would have gotten out. It would have taken dozens of people to plan such an event. Does anyone really believe all those people could keep quiet? You and I know the answer is no, but that is BORING. It's so much more fun to believe something out of a Hollywood movie. It's sad. Half the Arab world btw, believe all the Jews got out of the buildings before the attacks, so the madcaps theories aren't just among your friends.
