Catherine Padilla wanted speed bumps on her street in Lantana, FL after seeing a cat and child hit by speeding drivers. She says that Lantana Mayor David Stewart offered to get the bumps installed if she would have sex with him. An ethics panel ruled that there is probable cause to proceed with further investigation.
Quote:
Padilla told WPTV that she heard from the mayor about a week after the incident, when he learned that she was trying to get street bumps installed. She told the station that Stewart had said to her, “It’s not too late, you can still have sex with me and I will guarantee that you get your speed humps that you want.”
Mayor Stewart vehemently denies the accusation. Time will tell but it is hard to imagine someone making this up. Over the years I have run across similar instances of strange requests for a quid pro quo from local officials, inspectors, etc.
I searched several minutes re whether Stewart is Republican or Democrat, but came up empty. He's got to be one or the other--nobody gets to be mayor without affiliating with one or the other.
Some positions aren't necessarily attached to a political party but to be honest, I don't think which political party he belongs to has any bearing to his behavior...

Agreed. But we'll get some idiots that want to play it every time somebody does something wrong it means that the whole party is that way.
At first I thought speed bump was referring to some kind of drug. Actual speed bumps, lol.
That was my first thought as well.
