Years ago, congress passed the truth in lending law I think it is high time congress pass the truth in campaign law.
I am so tired of hearing this opponent did this, that opponent did that, without any proof at all as to their claim.
If a candidate states something negative about the opposing candidate, they should have to offer proof, stated in the ad,before the ad airs.
Same thing applies to referendums, and proposition on the ballot.
Give substantial proof of what the claim states, before the ad can hit the airways.
Congress should be taking this up in the next session, so that by 2020 out right lies in campaigns will be a thing of the past.
I don’t like the ads either. But, it’s really the fault of 340 million people who can’t take five minutes out of their lives to investigate their own candidates. They need to rely on 30 second sound bites, but that’s what works so that’s what the politicians spend their money on.

Bob.
That's an interesting idea, because it would take more time, which means the ad would cost more.
