Honestly, politics aside, who didn't see tis coming? They took the title character out of the show and expected it to be a decent reboot. There's a reason NBC didn't make "The Cranes" after "Frasier" ended.
As I posted before: Create a show based on a specific character, name the show after that character which is also the star of the show's real name, watch it run successfully for years, show ends, do a reboot, then decide because you don't approve of star of the show's free speech you kill her off, expecting the record breaking audience numbers to continue to watch the underlings who remain.
