Obama doubled it...added $10 trillion
I would not be surprised Trump triples the debt by time he is done.

"Didn't vote.
I've never really noticed the difference outside of local politics.
Just being honest......"

thank you for being supremely honest.

I voted mostly red today and I am a democrat. I don't like Trump much, but I don't like the ultra-Liberal direction at all. Both extremes are nuts however. I always thought the far right was moronic, but learned that the far left is as stupid. That being said, I sent a message to my fellow democrats that I don't care for their direction to the point I moved on.

As far as foreign policy, yes, absolutely Switzerland is the model to emulate.

I'd rather end up with nothing and be free then end up with socialism, where you end up with nothing and aren't free.

But the above sentiment is one of the reasons why Libertarianism will never get off the ground.

Legit functions of government include such things as national defense and border enforcement.

I'd throw in some degree of infrastructure that would be difficult for the individual states to manage on their own.

Not much else though.
(L)ibertarian isn't the same thing as (l)ibertarian. Just as (R)epublican isn't the same thing as (r)epublican.

There are no legit functions of government, as government itself is illegitimate. Everything can and should be handled by the free market.

As for your critique of the welfare state, I am absolutely not opposed to it. I think you need to get a life if you really went that far in my post history to try to criticize me. I was literally on food stamps as a starving college student for less than a semester. As an attorney on a higher than average salary, I'll be paying way more into the system throughout my lifetime than I'll ever get back so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make by bringing up the fact that I used a social service temporarily.
Rosseau and other social contract theorist absolutely included protections for members of society who may have fallen in hard times. That “mutual protection and welfare” includes a government taking care of ALL.

You took from the tax payer when they suited you and now you don’t want to pay for other who have suffered the way you did. Seriously you took food stamps to get through until you could make it on your own and now you have literally zero shame about voting for a party that wouldn’t want someone in your situation to be able to better themselves. You know, you reap what you sow. What could possibly go wrong for someone like you with the far right emoboldened, especially in the south. Hypocrite or not, good luck!

If I never signed a contract, either handwritten or electronically, it's not a legitimate contract and is null and void. In other words, it doesn't exist.
