I often hear people argue that the United States is a republic, not a democracy. But that’s a false dichotomy. A common definition of “republic” is, to quote the American Heritage Dictionary, “A political order in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who are entitled to vote for officers and representatives responsible to them” — we are that. A common definition of “democracy” is, “Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives” — we are that, too.

You mean more of the same, then. Not much has gotten done the past two years with a POTUS who works three hours a day on his heavy days and takes golfing vacations every weekend.

The US is a constitutional and representative democracy. Your comment shows a lack of education.

Thank god we now have back our checks and balances. It is time to put Trump in check.
Trump has fulfilled many of his economic promises, so it sounds like you don't know what you are talking about.

The purpose of our system is to encourage GRIDLOCK. We already have too many laws. More, and more laws often mean just more restrictions on rights, and freedoms. Gridlock is GOOD. Thank the Founders for knowing that.

If anything. The GOP is going to completely control the Senate now. It's been the GOP politicians who were against Trump that have either lost their seats or are out now.
Both CNN and Fox have referred to the new Senate as being 'Trumpier', and essentially explained what you stated above as being the reason why.
