Apparentlythere has been a lack of progress on any trade deal betwee the US and Europe, despite agriculture being taken off the table.

However Europe has warned that any tariffs imposed by the US under Trump will be met with equal tariffs against US goods and services and are currently making a hit list of US Products to target should Trump go ahead with his auto tariffs.

But lack of progress on a final deal has Trump reportedly eager again to impose auto tariffs. Free trade advocates in the Trump administration dissuaded the president from imposing the tariffs during a meeting on Tuesday, according to multiple reports, but the possibility remains of auto tariffs some time in the future

Maybe the EU should reduce their UNFAIR, and ridiculous tariffs and restrictions on U.S. goods which have been in place for several decades giving them unfair advantages. How about that?

Which unfair tariffs exactly.

The EU has already stated that the 10% tax on cars could be scrapped, however the US has a 25% tariffs on light trucks.

Furthermore the US has just as many tariffs on goods as the US, although average tariffs betwen the two trading blocs are under 3% which is very very low by international standards.

United States - Trade - European Commission

The US has a $92 Billion deficit with the EU but this is based on over $1 Trillion worth of trade, with the US exporting over $501 Billion to the EU, it's largest export market by far.

The EU is not China, the US actually exports a lot to Europe and relies on European trade.

U.S. goods and services trade with the EU totaled nearly $1.1 trillion in 2016. Exports totaled $501 billion; Imports totaled $592 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with the EU was $92 billion in 2016.

European Union | United States Trade Representative

U.S. goods and services trade with China totaled an estimated $710.4 billion in 2017. Exports were $187.5 billion; imports were $522.9 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with China was $335.4 billion in 2017.

The stage is being set for a Kabuki theater comedy of epic proportions.

Then the flip side:

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/p...mps-trade-deal

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnbri.../#14e2c8633c43

So to summarize;

Republicans were initially against the tariffs imposed then waffled nd lost their cojones, but are now very publicly against them and want them lifted as Trump stated they would be upon agreement being reached. He lied and they dropped the ball.

Now the Rebub lawmakers are stating the LBGT and gender rules contained in the agreement directly challenge "sovereignty" because it removes the right for America to remain bigoted azzwipes and craft rules of bigotry and prejudice across their country.

The other side of the aisle, in direct contradiction, says the rules don't go far enough to force Mexico to provide living wages and quality of life to remove incentive for companies to relocate there.

Americans who are honest, unlike some of those on here, are now experiencing 401K losses like the economic disaster of the mid 2000/10 years. You won't hear that on here though. Just talk to them in the street and you'll get your earful of regret and buyer's remorse to which reminding them of their own folly in electing a con man to run their country perhaps now not seeming like such a good idea regardless of Hillary's flaws just gets you a blank stare.

It's akin to the owner of the Titanic saving a few quid on lifeboats standing at the rail of his sinking ship still prepared to jingle the sheckles in his pocket and continue to think of himself as winner.

All of this juxtaposed with the original imposition of those tariffs done under the duplicitous and lying cover of presenting a security risk.

It makes one wonder how effing stupid the American public really are when they endorse this behaviour on the part of their leading figurehead King and his minions.

The coming session is going to be one of comedy and frustration. Trump ain't gonna like the fact he cannot order executions in the city square.

"Trade wars are easy to win" is going to go down in the annals right alongside "mission accomplished" and "you can keep your doctor"..

what losses on the 401k??? I started my 401k when the DOW was 1500....dow now 25200... increased my contribution when it went from 14000 to 6000... made up the "losses" of 09 by 11

the only ones seeing ANY type of losses are those just getting in it 2 months ago when the DOW was 26800

I have talked to quite a few who've lost anywhere from 10k to 50K this past summer/fall.

The market is ripe for some savvy investors to make money but most are not in that category. They have no choice but to hang on and go the full ride.
