I have never told anybody how they must live. After my family lost a house to a fire, one to a hurricane, and a another to a mudslide I understand being a slave to bunch stuff is confining. It is also destroying the planet and making people sick.
All destroyed homes are easily replaceable as long as the owner maintained proper homeowners insurance on their property. It does not destroy the planet or make people sick to own and enjoy wonderful properties and abundant material goods. It actually makes life better and more enjoyable to own and use lots of wonderful things. Family and friends come first of course, but next up is enjoying and owning the incredible material goods that we have designed and built for each other.
So, let me see if I get this straight?
It is acceptable for corporate stooges to take tax breaks, handouts and anything that will benefit their business, but politicians, who I might add, many are placed in DC by said corporations can refuse it?

They are doing their jobs, which is to extract as much value for shareholders and creditors as possible. It is the equivalent of getting as many on lifeboats as possible, knowing 100% cannot be saved.
Wasn't their job not go bankrupt? Well, they failed, therefore they shouldn't receive any bonuses. Bonuses are supposed to be a reward when a company accomplishes things or hits a target. Bankruptcy is neither an accomplishment or a target.

Maximizing creditor and/or remaining shareholder value is a target, too.

And when a company declares bankruptcy, shareholder value decreases which I highly doubt is a target that Sears has set and therefore, the executives shouldn't get any bonuses.

As it says, many laid-off workers fear they will no receive severance pay, as they should. They can hope that no Trump-appointed judge is hearing the executives case.
If everyone had a choice to opt out of taxes, the wealthy would be hurt the most.
Not one cent of mine would go to the MIC or for shipping ports or for the interstate system.

Yeah, the wealthy in under-developed, poor infrastructure, 3rd world nations are really hurting.
They want to keep their best performing Executives during the reorganization process. I understand that. But I'd can the bastard who thought it was a good idea to get rid of the catalog.
