Luckily, that won't happen here. First, Trump is so stingy and money-grubbing that he wouldn't want to pay anyone. Second, we can assume he probably likes porn himself, since he hooked up with a porn actress.
This just came out a few days ago. China is paying out more and more for its subjects to rat each other out.
In its official releases, the Chinese govt phrases it as though porn is their major concern. Only at the end do they mention they are also cracking down on "illegal publications". That means anything Chinese subjects say or write, that the government doesn't like.
Anybody want to guess which kind of publications the govt is really concerned with?
Wanting to crack down on the dissemination of frowned upon material, China announced Friday that starting December 1, it will be doubling the money given to citizens who report pornographic material or any others deemed illegal to authorities. Citizens who decide to tap into their inner snitch can earn a cash reward of up to 600,000 yuan, the equivalent of roughly $86,480, AFP reported. The previous guidelines stipulated that citizens could cash in for up to 300,000 yuan.
Illegal content can include anything that poses a danger to national unity, leaks state secrets and disrupts the social order of things. Per the outlet, the latest rules were published by a bureau working under the country's top media regulator.
The announcement of the newly established rules came just one day after the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) revealed that it would start requiring detailed user logs from any internet outlet that may be used to trigger "major changes in public opinion."
Although no specific platforms were mentioned in the policy notice, it did indicate that detailed logs would be requested from companies that offer services such as chat functions, webcasts, news providers and blogs, the South China Morning Post reported.
Expected to take effect on November 30, the policy will force companies to reveal the usernames and real names of netizens, network addresses, chat logs, call logs and even the type of device an individual is using. The assessments will also reportedly include on-site inspections.
If you're going to have a technocracy, or powerful central government not ruled by the people, you better have some highly rational, not impulsive people who are constantly considering the big picture, not a bunch of prudes willing to waste energy on crap.
If we ever form a technocracy, I want some kind of button which anyone can press at any time and it makes our mayor's head explode...or we can be ruled by some kind of flawless machine who knows more about what's best for me than I do.
LOL. Cracking down on porn. uh huh. Sure thats going to work well.
Last time I was in china they sold porn DVD's on the street. Those folks are going to ignore this one.
While making their government look foolish, and creating a HUGE market for illegal pornography, turning criminals who also deal in more dangerous activities into millionaires.
Which suggests that maybe porn isn't really what the govt is most interested in restricting.
You know, like the OP said?
Good point.
I wasn't necessarily opposed to China's birthing limit...but then you can't have that sort of thing without massive government cracking down on people deemed disloyal...probably, and this sort of ridiculous control doesn't seem sustainable in any healthy way. It's making me reconsider my lack of opposition to that sort of thing.
Why would you or anyone care what China does in China? China is not subject to our Constitution. The Chinese government will govern how they see fit. There are 1.4 Billion people in China. They are not stupid. It's no one else's business what their government does within their country. MYOB.
Why would anyone care what Germany does in Germany, or Europe in Europe? or Japan in Japan? or Asia in Asia? or Iraq in Iraq? or the Middle East in the Middle East?
Such thought processes that accept one but bar the other are so two-faced. So closed off to good thought.
