She said that Black Friday is a racist holiday, because foolish black people buy things from evil white people who are just in corporations to exterminate and brutalize Black youth.

Is she right? Are Thanksgiving and Black Friday just holidays that exploit black and Indian people?
If she was the same coworker who said

""I don't cater to cops or the military. They and the Klan literally go hand in hand".

maybe it is safe to say that she is a very unhappy and or unstable person.

Your coworker is welcome to work with out extra pay as if was a regular Thursday or spend the day obtaining counseling for her anger issues. The holiday is one of the few that represents all Americans regardless of your religion, race or ethnic origin. Black Friday is American Capitalism at its best and along with Football and cranberry sauce (which most people would never eat) its part of the traditions.

Why do I get the feeling this co-worker has socialist leanings?

I think your first sentence said it all....

"My crazy coworker is back at it. "

That pretty ends the discussion.

Thanksgiving is a BS American holiday. The whole story about the Pilgrims and Natives eating dinner together like it is portrayed to school aged children is the first load of nonsense. Then they decided to add insult to injury about 15 years ago and make it worse by declaring it a weekend of not only gluttony but also rampant consumerism. It's about as 'Murica as it gets.

Black Friday got its name from the account books, not the race. It was the day that put a retail business in the black (making a profit) for the year instead of ending up in the red (losing profitability).

The term began on Wall Street where things like that are often noticed first.

Thanksgiving is an old European tradition that got an American overlay on it. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving, much like the Untied States does, but a month earlier in October.

It's just a harvest ritual, a time when a good celebratory feast was in order after a year's crops were laid in. No one knows for sure how much the Natives had to do with the European-style Thanksgiving we celebrate today, but they had their own traditions that were often similar.

There's nothing like a good feast to buck up spirits when winter is approaching. A good harvest means everyone will get by through another winter, but more importantly, another spring.

The food usually holds out through the winter, but a long cold spring can make having enough to eat until the earth is once again warm enough to plant and grow another crop very dicey. A cold April was more feared than a cold January. April was when starvation would begin if the crops weren't good.

Why do we care about your crazy co-worker? And how do we even know she is real? There could be someone somewhere right now telling their friends about their crazy co-worker who talks to people no one else can see? She is entitled to her opinion and, no, it doesn't mean she should be institutionalized just for not agreeing with you.

Does she understand where the term "Black Friday" comes from?
