Everything else is marketing for retail.
There is no PC or racial overtones or significance involved. Nobody sits around the turkey talking about the people who originally held it.
They eat the turkey and go home. Grandma is happy but sad at the same time that all her children have turned out to be such idiots but at least they showed up.
The friggin Alt-Left hates Thanksgiving, because it was the first complete failure of Collective Socialism in the New World. Savages had to bailout the intellectuals, by giving them a fish, and eventually teaching them to fish for themselves

I agree that Black Friday is simply a crass consumer marketing trick....it somewhat sickens me as I do need to buy some things and some gifts but refuse - as a customer - to lower myself to play along with that clown show and wait in line at a store.

But let's talk Thanksgiving.

One of the most famous Indians of early days was King Phillip. He learned English and liked to dress in European Clothes and hang with the settlers (Pilgrims...same area)...

Long story - BUT, in the end, he was beheaded, drawn and quartered and his HEAD was places on a PIKE at the entrance to the Pilgrim settlement at Plymouth, MA.

I'm not sure what others here were taught, but we were taught that the story of Thanksgiving had to do with the Indians helping the Pilgrims to survive (a true story) and that they ended up having a feast when things got better (the first year 1/2 the Pilgrims died because they didn't know how to farm here).

We were never taught that, soon after, most all the Indians were wiped out and treaties broken (they touched on the treaties, but never told of the slaughter)...

But, HECK, sticking a chiefs head on a Pike outside your settlement.....that's brutal and certainly not in the tradition of "giving thanks".....

Maybe I need to read more?

BTW, I love Thanksgiving just like I sometimes like Christmas which has little or nothing to do with the "actual events" that it represents. That's not the point.

But all the Disney movies and books about how the Indians and Settlers got along......don't often go much further. It is a whitewash.

"The English drew and quartered Philip's body and publicly displayed his head on a stake in Plymouth. King Philip's War, which was extremely costly to the colonists of southern New England, ended the Native American presence in the region and inaugurated a period of unimpeded colonial expansion."

How does that head go with turkey?
You seem to have left out half the story. You also washed over the fact King Philip's war was in 1675. Over a half century past the first feast.

She said that Black Friday is a racist holiday, because foolish black people buy things from evil white people who are just in corporations to exterminate and brutalize Black youth.

Is she right? Are Thanksgiving and Black Friday just holidays that exploit black and Indian people?
She got her marching orders.

This thread has encouraged me. I'm going shopping this evening. My local Old Navy store is open.

and while I'm at it, I'll swing by Starbuck's.

The fact you asked "Is she right?" for what you know is blatantly asinine is what makes me believe this is fake and you made it up for the sake of a thread and stirring the pot.

If this was real and there was someone that actually was one of those far-left clowns then you probably wouldn't be coworkers anymore and they probably would have reported you by now and got you out of your job.

Make a more believable story next time. You know the answer to your question by the way if you actually are being serious.

Indeed. The original Thanksgiving (which was closer to an English harvest festival than the modern holiday) was very cooperative and collaborative between the Indians and the settlers, and there were actually twice as many Wampanoag people there as Englishmen, so it's likely the natives ate more of the Englishmen's food in the original holiday than the English themselves did. It was the natives that taught the English how to survive there, the natives that got an alliance (complete with guns*), and the natives that feasted the most; if anything they were the biggest beneficiaries of the original holiday, so to claim that celebrating and remembering the Pilgrims' example of thanksgiving every autumn is racist because of events that happened later that had nothing to do with the first Thanksgiving celebration nor even the people that went to it is just horribly off-base if you ask me.

While natives were oppressed, abused, and mistreated by whites on account of their race with regularity in the history of America, the first Thanksgiving was not an instance of such racist oppression. If anything the first Thanksgiving and the related context of that year's harvest should be celebrated as an example of what a multiracial group of people of diverse geographical origins are capable of if they choose to cooperate peaceably in a spirit of individual liberty rather than fight each other over ultimately petty differences. If more people had reflected on the gains for all peace and friendship between the races bring and had kept the spirit of that original banquet so much of the later violence we decry today could have been avoided.

*New research from David Silverman argues that modern American gun culture in fact owes more to the Indians than the whites, and if nothing else demonstrates that natives embraced gun culture at least as much as whites, which is really saying a lot.

Black Friday is not a holiday, it’s just a nickname for the day after Thanksgiving.

I know common lore is that the name was coined because it is alleged to be the day retailers’ books go into ‘the black’ but I recall that it was coined by retail employees years ago because it’s the absolute worst day of the year to have to work.

Default "Thanksgiving and Black Friday are racist, imperalist holidays and they dehumanize Black and Indian bodies"

Geez, can't we just admit ALL humans are bad and pray for the early arrival of the robot overlords already?

Clicking on the button that say's "read all previous posts by Mr. Joshua", I must say that this is one of the truest posts you have ever made. In fact if it wasn't a racist weekend, you'd do everything in your power to make sure it was.
