Instead of buying crap I don't need on Black Friday, I'll be hiking.
Instead of buying more crap I don't need on Small Business Saturday, I'll be doing something with my kids.
Instead of buying anything on Cyber Monday, I'll be at work.
Does anyone else think that this stuff is out of control --- and has been for a long time?

Good for you, feel better after all that virtue signaling? Has anyone tried to force you to go shopping? Obviously not. If everyone felt it was out of control there wouldn't be miles long lines outside of major retailers waiting for deals.
They MAY sell different models during various holidays/events............but I doubt a special run of certain
"cheapo/shoddy" products are made just for those days in-order to eeeeek-out extra profit.
Kinda like the claim that Walmart has especially cheap/shoddy bikes assembled just for them. Well, MAYBE they can spec the parts like gear-sets and brakes, but it is not like they tell the manufacturer to skimp on the frame-welds, cheaper grade nuts and bolts, or anything like that, LOL.
Actually YES, they can. I used to be heavily involved in BMX racing when i was younger and I know bikes, Walmart started selling Mongoose bikes years ago, but they are not the same Mongoose bikes you would find in a regular bike shop, they were MUCH cheaper, (in price and parts). The frame is NOT a Mongoose frame, they use regular painted steel instead of Chromoly, the cranksets, stem, wheels are all off brand/cheap (NOT Mongoose brand).
You dont have to believe me, go online and find the Mongoose bike catalog for 2018, you will not find a single walmart sold 'mongoose' in their line up. the only thing that is real is the Mongoose sticker on the frame and other badging.

I would think that if they have Mongoose badging then the bikes would be "real" Mongoose products and authorized by the company. If they're not "real" then that could be considered fraud at the least.

Mongoose LET Walmart sell a cheaper brand. Kind of diminishes the brand doesn't it.

I guess.
I remember several years ago when some people were asserting that WalMart was selling substandard Remington shotguns. Bad workmanship, loose tolerances, rust prone, etc. Turns out that the problem wasn't WalMart but Remington. They'd worn out the dies that shaped metal for the shotguns as well as changing the formula of the bluing, among other production changes. The shotguns sold everywhere, from WalMart, to Mom and Pop to the cachet dealers all had the same problems. Except WalMart shouldered the blame.

Yes. That is what I was talking about. Different models.
It's all passe with mass communication and online shopping and the "forever sales". I agree.
If it wasn't for affiliate marketing (web sites making money from links), the whole thing would hardly be noticeable.
