The report, commissioned by Congress and released on Thursday, comes as President Donald Trump and Democrats taking control of the House of Representatives in January vow to pursue major public-works legislation in 2019 -- but with no consensus on how to pay for it.
The same story like in France. The only difference is that people in the US will probably take it like a champ. They'll just blame the "left". Talking about the left, I saw somebody here calling France a "socialist utopia" imploding on itself. Let's see how they compare in their welfare state.

These are 2013 figures but for comparison it will work:
US: $10,203
France: $11,773
This is the total expenditure per capital, France is a little higher but they have free healthcare, free tuition for higher education and very good school lunch. It looks to me that it is Americans who are getting ripped off, What do you think? Also when I went to high school 20 years ago, my lunch meal was pretty good, had lots of choices too. Any one seen the crap kids are fed these days?
A classic quote to those stuck in the left/right paradigm; virtually everyone here. But good to know they are a few who's seen the light.
The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy. They are all doing this in California, they raised the gas tax. Prop 6 was shot down. California is as left as you can be, but the poor suckers didn’t know that and they kept electing Dem Politicians who tricked into paying more tax. It’s not Donald Trump. It’s infrastructure and the left loves to spend money on infrastructure. Donald Trump knows he can get them to agree on infrastructure. At least Donald helps lower my gas price recently, so I won’t revolt against the politicians in California.
"He is amplifying a phenomenon that has existed for years now," said Julian Alla, 31, a teacher from the rural Lozère region in the south of France. "That is that inequality is increasing, the rich are more and more rich and the poor are getting poorer."
"We're fed up and it makes me happy to see that everyone is here to say 'enough is enough,'" said Alla, who had traveled more than 385 miles to Paris to protest.
So I doubt France is going to give up its "socialized medicine", "lack of free speech", and "gun restrictions" any time soon - and probably not in at least this century besides.
It is the EU dictating their policy towards ruin, that they are angry at.
Raising taxes to pay for the imported people with no value, forced upon them to pay for, without earning it and no way for them to work once there. Imported Welfare from the EU.....
Don't get it twisted. They're mad about the fuel tax, yes (which was scrapped), but there's anger over eliminating the wealth tax as well, and they don't feel like Macron prioritizes the poor enough.
So, no. They aren't dreaming of living in a "survival of the fittest/kill or be killed" jungle.
The French are getting it out of their system as they normally do from time to time. Nothing wrong with it. For that, I GREATLY admire the French people.

A lot of senior people in the EU Federalist project, have links to the Open Society Foundation, which received an $18 Billion donation from Soros.
Macron was supposed to be the independent candidate but ironically he's anything but, and is really an EU/Minc/Soros stooge.
Rather ironically Soro's native Hungary is very critical of the EU and is at idds with many if it's policies, leading to one of the Open Societires leading proponents, the rodent like Guy Verhofstadt to publically criticise the democratically elected Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
It's precisely because of people like Macron and Guy Verhofstadt as well as Jean claude Juncker, Michel Barnier and numerous others, that I can't wait for Britain to just leave the EU.
As for Macron he has an approval rating of only 18% in the French Polls, with the Right Wing Marine Le Pen and her Front National well ahead in the polls.

Sorry, I can't feel sorry for the protestor that had his hand blown off... If the police are throwing Flash-Bang (concussion) grenades and Tear Gas/OC grenades at you, you might not want to pick them up and try throwing them back at the police... That never ends well, as this protestor can now attest to.
Once the pin and safety spoon are removed, there is normally a 3-5 second delay in the fuse setting before the "grenade" goes off.
I get why they're protesting and pretty much agree with them, but I can't support rioting and the destruction of private property to get your message through to the political class.
Well if the French get out the ole “national razor” we have a few liberal globalist folks over here we can send to them to test the blade. The French people are standing up for themselves .......viva la France!
