Reagan ended the fairness Doctrine on the advice of Roger Ailes. Every time I read complaints about bias in the media, it can point directly to that.

Reagan promoted supply-side economics, which does not work. To quote another famous Republican of the day, it is "Voodoo Economics".

It was under Reagan that the wealth and income gap began to grow. This is the fundamental problem all 'forgotten Americans' can point to as the origin of their angst. Anyone who feels economically left behind today can thank Ronald Reagan for kicking off that process. Reagan betrayed the working people of this country.

He was also a tremendous liar, but the people like the sonorous tones of his voice and like weepy girls wanted to be lied to by him ...

Unless his parents were born in 1870-1900, this is one of the dumbest statements I have seen here in quite a while.

I remember arguments about this during the heyday of Limbaugh ca 1992 to 1998. Limbaugh is downright liberal compared to many on the web now. How would you even begin to do the fairness doctrine in 2018 with the internet?

It could not be applied to bloggers and such, nor would I want that, but for cable television and the major broadcasters we could certainly reintroduce this policy. It actually worked very well, and that is why people trusted the news to give them balanced coverage. A fully informed public is this nation's greatest strength.

Palin called them "Real Americans" and Trump called them "very fine people" but they were both chosen based on their talent at activating the racists that make up a large portion of the modern GOP.

Then the Democrats nominated a former president's wife who would still be a nobody lawyer in the middle of Deliverance, Arkansas had she not married the otherwise losing candidate who just happened to be lucky enough to run when Ross Perot split the Republican vote. Now, like Herpes, we can't seem to get rid of these people.

Maybe the ordinary Republican citizens became less informed, and needed everything dumbed down for them?

If Bush1 wasn't such a globalist sellout, there would not have been a Ross Perot.
Same as Obama, who sold a change and then doubled down on the global new world order sellout. We would not have got Trump.

That’s quite sad too. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
