Sad Story: Obama Lied

"Remember Obama bragging how he “saved” General Motors? And how he promised he would buy a Chevy Volt when he left office, because “I liked sitting in it. It was nice. I’ll bet it drives real good.” (Wow, the greatest orator of the century is truly a wordsmith!)

But as Liz Peek noted in the Fiscal Times, Obama’s auto bailout was really a hefty union payoff.
And now that the Chevy Volt will no longer be manufactured, Obama’s promise will not be fulfilled…as though he had any intention of buying a Chevy. Now that the Obamas are on their way to becoming billionaires, a Chevy will most likely not be their car of choice."

Just a hefty union pay-off. Now Trump needs to clean it up.

That's how you see, most just see it as a Failure of Trumps making.

What a nice spin.

In reality, if Obama hadn't stepped in, GM would have folded during the Great Recession that was caused by Republican Bush admin, and pretty much all GM jobs would have been lost.

Now GM needs to evolve with the times and get into new segments and product lines - one featuring a lot more automation, robotics, AI - which is at odds with Trump's promise of everyone happily working away in manufacturing plants like it's 1980.

So it's Trump whose promise is failing, and his threat about the subsidies is toothless since GM subsidies are phasing out next year anyways. And it looks doubly stupid when capitalist Trump wants to use the government to bully a corporation into manufacturing legacy products that don't sell because it's politically convenient for him. Shows how dense he is.

GM should have folded.

If they couldn't survive on their own merit because they built ugly, crappy cars that nobody wanted, they didn't deserve the bailout.

And the Volt had to be heavily subsided by taxpayers to even exist.

Now they're problem is people aren't buying their cars.....again.

Yes..... Trump's fault for sure.

When fully electric cars are comparable in price and amenities to gas powered cars, people will buy them. The industry simply is not there yet. Within 15 years we will see electric vehicles as the norm. My next car will be electric. Of course, I’m already driving a car GM has determined obsolete (a Buick), that people don’t want to buy and that I love so, perhaps I will always be in the minority.

Bush bailed out the auto industry, not Obama. Obama just told everyone to destroy their cars and buy new ones ....during a recession. lmao
