Having a decentralized state or a state with less power has nothing to do with direct democracy.
Direct democracy exists on the grassroots level and is part of human organization outside of state functions. Direct democracy exists in all our interactions with each other and forms a mutual society.
Having individual ownership of private capital leads to an accumulation of power and less freedom for everyone else.

They didn’t fight as individuals, but as tribes. Tribes were groups of people that worked together based on mutual aid. The ones that went alone died off in the evolutionary process.
