I wonder why this took so long if Trump was being "audited" like he claimed during the campaign when he failed to submit his tax records.
A IRS audit is not that comprehensive. Even for those in the billionaire class auditers are not given much time or resources. Certainly not enough to sufficiently do so. If someone in the top .01% is audited, the average time spent on it is under 20 hours total. Not joking.
The Watergate investigation took two years to conclude. This is a much bigger and wide-ranging scandal.

Nixon committed crimes and conspired with others to cover-up those crimes.
In the case of Trump, there is no conspiracy because there is no crime.
Trump is being investigated because he won an election.
