94 is a damn good run, RIP. For perspective, McCain made it to 81 and Barbara Bush made it to 92, also RIP.

Mortality really stinks.

He did a parachute jump in combat, to save his life. He flew a TBM torpedo bomber in the Battle of Midway. His plane was hit hard with enemy fire and his two crewmen were killed. The plane was going down and he bailed and survived. He was depicted by name in the movie "Midway", showing the actor playing him climbing aboard a ship after being pulled from the water by a rescue boat. He certainly had the right stuff. I hope that the standard he set for being our chief executive, will be remembered.

Had a private tour of "Air Force One" (yeah, I know it's not actually "Air Force One" unless the President is on board - but it was the primary of the 2 747's used to transport the President) in the hanger at Andrews AFB back in 1991, a couple of days after he returned from the 50th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. Remember being thrilled to see "George" and "Barbara"'s monogrammed jackets draped over chair backs in the living room/bedroom of the plane.

Though I didn't vote for him and disagreed with him on many things I respected him. He was a decent human being.

Ken

Default George Bush Sr is dead at 94

George Bush Sr. died around 9pm EST Friday Nov. 30th. What a day November 30th has been. Alaskan earthquake, plane crash in Indiana, indictment of the Dallas cop who shot to death her upstairs neighbor, the cowling came off a Frontier Airlines engine on the way to Florida from Las Vegas, and on a local level, a guilty verdict of 1st degree murder for the two boys who planned the murder and robbery of one Wesley Gennings, 16 at the time of his murder in Federal Way, WA.
To top it off, George Bush Sr has died. What a tumultuous, turbulent day it has been. I'm glad it's over.

RIP, what an incredible life that man has lived.

  • WW2 veteran who voluntarily enlisted and had his plane shot out of the sky. Returned to battle a months later.
  • House of Representatives
  • Ambassador to the UN
  • Chairman of the RNC
  • Director of the CIA
  • Vice President
  • President
That's quite a laundry list of accomplishments.
