Following a directive issued by Trump, the USPS and other national agencies will be closed tomorrow for a national day of mourning. He was a good president but closing the offices is a little over-the-top, isn't it? Especially considering Trump's previous critical attitudes toward the family.
No it's not over the top. Presidents and their families deserve that mark of respect just for serving...no matter the party they belonged or how the current administrations felt about them.

Not really. I don't see a reason to idolize any politician.

The Bush administration's decision to shut down most of the federal government Friday in honor of the late Ronald Reagan was in keeping with a tradition that stretches back more than 50 years. But it was also one that cost taxpayers millions of dollars in government employee wages.
Suspending operations in remembrance of the elder Bush won't be the first time mail officials have halted deliveries to honor a president.
The agency has closed or suspended operations at least seven times to mourn presidents, including John F. Kennedy in November 1963, Dwight D. Eisenhower in March 1969, Harry S. Truman in December 1972, Lyndon B. Johnson in January 1973, Richard Nixon in April 1994, Ronald Reagan in June 2004 and Gerald Ford in 2007.
The fact that this thread was created illustrates that whatever Trump does, certain people will find fault one way or the other.
This protocol will probably be broken whenever Trump dies... if Democrats are running the show.
Perfect example of a liberal taking ANYTHING and criticizing Trump for it. Good grief you people need some serious help!
You are correct and I was wrong. National days of mourning are usual following the death of a president. I did not know that. It looks as though the tradition started after President Gerald Ford's death? However, it is not typical for a sitting president to attack a deceased president and his family, then pretend like they were best friends after they passed away.
