Tillerson and Sessions should have known better than to work for Trump. Now they have the opportunity to inform us of why they were too stupid to realize that.
Whether some of you want to acknowledge it or not, people like them and Mattis did this out of a love for this country, knowing that there had to be adults around this overgrown 10 year-old to make sure he doesn't do something so stupid that it jeopardizes national security or worse. As was reported a year ago, apparently Mattis and Kelly had an arrangement that one of them would always be stateside in case Big Orange were to get completely out of control so one of them could step in and essentially put him in a straitjacket.
I had confidence from the outset that there were, and will always be, patriotic Americans who will set aside their personal wellbeing to safeguard the nation.
Tillerson is much better off out that toxic environment, I'm sure he loves his freedom. And I'm also sure he is not losing any sleep over being fired by Trump, he probably sleep well at night these days.
My understanding was that Tillerson was looking forward to spending time on his ranch and lots more time with his grandchildren in retirement (from Exxon), and that he only took the SOS job because his wife really wanted him to do it. He certainly doesn't need the money.
Even if Tillerson was not up to speed on the legality in the moment, he had a staff at the State Department to do research for him, and I'm pretty certain he paid attention when he was briefed. That doesn't seem to be the case for the President, at least according to Tillerson.
I agree. Tillerson as head of the State Department would have had a lot of resources at his disposal, and briefings which would keep him current.
Plus Tillerson's long expertise in a prominent global enterprise would have made him very familiar with a great many of the domestic and international issues ... legal, political and financial. He was answerable to the stockholders and had a fiduciary responsibility to keep the vast, complex international company out of legal jeopardy.
By comparison, Trump is a flim flam man, smart but devious, morally challenged opportunist, manipulative, unethical, always skirting the law for gain. No stockholders, no board of directors, no sense of being answerable to anyone and no respect for the law.
Five Thirty Eight has Trump at 42.2% Dec 7
It's an aggregation of multiple polls, including Rasmussen (which normally pulls his favorability up).
Trumpies like to cite Rasmussen because he always looks better there. I can't believe these people are always checking Rasmussen themselves, they must be reading these updates on Breitbart or something.
The end of tRump is now in sight.
He's going down.
I'm 99.9999999999999999999999999999% certain.
One of the worst periods in U.S. history will end and America will, when all is said and done and tRump and his rats are out of the White House, be stronger for it. That's the silver lining.
When all but the most die-hard tRump supporters finally realize that they've been duped and when the Republicans who have been using him to gain or to retain their seats of power realize that he's a liability, game over.
Trump's swamp is the best thing that has happened to the Nixon and Bush reputation. Forget Watergate, Open Treason Season Trump!
