Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer won’t cave to President Trump’s long-held demand for a border wall when they meet with him at the White House on Tuesday, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.
Pelosi (D-Calif.), who’s vying to become the next House speaker, and Schumer (D-N.Y.), the Senate minority leader, plan to make it clear to Trump during the Oval Office sit-down that they are willing to earmark between $1.3 and $1.6 billion for border security-related measures but won’t allot any funding for the construction of a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, a source involved in the negotiations said.
Good, shut the SOB down and let Trump suffer. He knows he is a toothless tiger in this fight, the last thing he needs is more turmoil in an already upside down administration.
Glad to see the Democrats are gaining strength and flexing their muscles !

Of course the dopey liberals will say that Trump is to blame for not building the wall
I think Americans should be allowed to contribute to a fund to pay for a portion of the wall or barrier. "A gift from Americans to the US."
Better still have businesses sponsor sections and use it for advertising.
There is no such thing as an actual government shutdown. It's a surprise vacation for federal employees and they all get their back pay in the end.
Trump should shut it down for real with no back pay for any non-essential employees and then I'd be happy.
I think there are many federal employees who get back pay, but this is not universally true during a shutdown. There are also contractors who simply lose the work, events that never take place (and whose employees don't get paid.) So I think it is a mixed picture.
Wasn't Pelosi a member of congress when the wall was approved back in 2006? Congress shouldn't be obligated to follow through on legislation they passed?

John Kerry school of logic.
"I was for it before I was against it."
What changed? There's a republican in office now.
Democrats will be democrats. Nothing new here.
I will admit however, this will be a real test for Trump. It will be interesting to see how he handles it.

Umm, the DOTARD is. He promised that Mexico would pay for it and then claimed he was the ultimate deal maker and yet he still cannot get his stupid wall even though Repugs own all three branches.
