Ford is the only company that really has large foreign sales, with GM even sellimg it's European Operation and Chrysler now just a subsidiary of Fiat.
It's quite sad, but other countries have also seen their car industries displaced by foreign manufacturers so the US is not alone.
In terms of Ford it still has operations in the UK, but nothing like in it's heyday when giant plants such as Ford Dagenham near London used to employ over 50,000 people on one site.
For the Right it's all about symbolism and the heck with results.
Not a whimper out of them as the deficit projections SOARED. Not a word as millions are thrown off the insurance rolls HERE.
But ship 100 Ford Pickups to China and they will should MAGA. True.

The Ford Moodel T controlled 90% of the global market in 1908 and remains the third most sold car in global automotive history. Toyota Corolla holds first place followed by the VW Beetle. The US tends to do well so long as there is little to no competition.
Despite a level playing field that happens when a foreign producer manufactures in the country the ourput is intended to be sold, it still has to compete with other foreign manufacturers doing the same as well as brands unique to the country.
Toyota and VW were the best selling brands in the world in 2017.
Toyota, assembled in the US for the US market is the most American made car, relying mostly on US content.
It's a bone from China to trump. The Chinese have a 15% tariff on all foreign import cars....so now the US is treated like all other foreigners. No special treatment though and hardly a win for trump. But I bet he will tout it like he just won the mvp for the NBA championship.
Will this result in more US made cars to be exported to China?
I don’t know. It can’t hurt sales.
Foreign and domestic brands made in China continue to have an advantage given no tariff or overseas shipping and brand/ model preference of buyers.
That's interesting. US automakers should love this.
In theory it is ridiculous that governments play this game at all. The United States does the same thing with heavy trucks, something like a 40% tariff on foreign built big rigs, so they don't even bother trying to sell them here, which of course is the point.
When the nanny state has so many "feel good" rules and regulations on manufacturing and labor practices, there has to be a check on importers able to flood our market, placing US labor and manufacturing out of business.
Tariffs funded this nation, before income theft was implemented by the 16thamendment. Giving the power from the people to the government, to point a gun at you. Instead of the other way around.
Imagine what it’s like inside the mind of a lefty...to actually become angry over this.
