There’s a waste of energy to generate electricity by burning oil and another waste to transfer electricity to kinetic energy - moving the car.

It would be much more efficient and cleaner to just burn fuel.
Nope. That’s not accurate.

Are the richest of the rich trying to kill the electric car?

No, the richest of the rich are the only ones who can afford the electric car. The rest of us will continue buying regular cars for now. Also, who cares about the electric car? It's neat, but what there's no real advantage to driving one.

Our local Walmart put in three charging stations two years ago. According to the manager, they have been used about a dozen times In the two years. In fact, they go for weeks at a time unused.

That's not the reason. Using the miles run is not an accurate comparison. You would have to compare cars of the same years, at a comparable price point. Comparing new cars with cars that have been running for many years is dishonest and misleading.
Teslas are pretty expensive, you would have to compare them to luxury cars of the same years to be fair.

Above 20mph, there's no difference between a modern gas car and an all electric. Electrics might be slightly noisier because they generally weigh more.
There is a huge difference with the noise. You can’t hear an electric car.

My husband leases a Volt. His commute to work is 2 hours each day. The advantage is that he doesn’t pay to constantly fill it up with gas. He fills it up maybe twice a year. He just plugs it into the outlet in the garage. We save a huge amount of money.

Trump is trying to ensure economic prosperity for all Americans. Not just overpriced toys for the very rich with more money than brains. Your golf cart is still out there if you want to buy one-just don't expect the taxpayers to continue to subsidize it for you indefinitely.

You mean the car whose production is ending and plant is closing due to such low demand that they can't sell enough to keep the product alive? One more albatros that is bringing down GM. Perhaps even more of an utter waste of resources as the EV-1 disaster of the early 90s.

Which, really is kind of sad. The Volt was a viable concept forward. True electrics will never make it as a primary vehicle. Limited range and long charging times-a cross country trip might be possible, but not practicable with one. With the Volt's plug-in hybrid design at least it can make it as an individuals or families primary vehicle. Still-a diesel is a more practical approach than a hybrid. Simpler driveline, none of the redundancies and extra weight of two power plants, and excellent mileage. I looked at a Equinox diesel-they are knocking down nearly 50 mpg, with good performance.

And end up stuck 100 miles from the nearest outlet with dead batteries...
