Democrats are more libertarian than republicans. Government should do the big things that individuals can’t do. On personal matters or smaller issues, less government is better.

A poor choice. The two main parties did even worse.

That part clearly exposes your ignorance on this topic. Paul Ryan is not a libertarian in any way at all. In fact, he is almost the opposite of a libertarian.

Johnson was out of his depth. The ticket would have been stronger with Weld at the top and Johnson as VP. Maybe in 2020 they'll get it right.

I ended up dismissing Johnson when he picked Weld. It's odd how so many supported the insider Weld as opposed to Johnson.

Most (L)ibertarians I know where disappointed in him picking Weld.

"Insider Weld"? He hasn't held a political office since 1997 when he was governor of Massachusetts.

He remained in politics jumping on any wagon that would have had him. If Trump had asked him to be VP he would have accepted. If Hillary had asked, he would have accepted. If Jill Stein had asked he would have accepted.

Johnson knew he would attract some money to the campaign which is why he picked him.

We libertarians are a long way from winning an election. We have to accept that we must align ourselves with the Republicans, especially Trump, as he is most closely aligned with us.

As a libertarian, if you believe in the Constitution, the autonomy of the individual, the rule of law and property right, you must support the Republican Party.

The current Democrat Party represents everything we hold in disdain. They believe in the group and the collective over the individual and openly advocate for an ever larger government on both the state and federal level. If any of you has been to California, you have seen what a disaster it is. Why would you want that for the rest of our nation?

For the first two paragraphs: absolutely not. Trump is very destructive to the principles of limited government, the rule of law and freedom. He is an aspiring Big Government dictator. Tariffs? Debt? He loves them.

The Democratic Party is a lethal threat to limited government, the rule of law, private property, equality and freedom. So it’s worse, but the response should be to build up the Libertarian Party, not to go along with the lesser of two evils.
