At the same point in his presidency, after Republicans won the House in 1994, Clinton's approval was stuck in the low 40s -- only a few points better than Trump today. But two years later, after House Republicans approved articles of impeachment, Clinton's approval rating soared to 73 percent. Despite incontrovertible evidence that Clinton had sexual relations with a White House intern and lied about it under oath, Clinton left office with the highest Gallup approval rating of any president since Harry Truman. If Democrats want to give Trump's approval a similar boost, there is no better way to do it than to impeach him for something unrelated to a criminal conspiracy with Russia.
This should be interesting. I doubt Trump will see the same uptick. Why? Clinton was investigated for a shady real estate deal and all they got on him was a BI in the White House. Yes, he was wrong and should have known better and no I am not defending him. But it certainy looks like there is going to be way more concrete evidence against Trump fo serious wrong doing.
You think Trump can do the same? maybe if he changed his rhetoric early on to be inclusive of all Americans I think it would have been possible, but the alienation of so many Americans has pretty much sealed his ability to gain traction from across the aisle if not the center of the aisle.
The POTUS is the one elected official who represents every single americans the POTUS should be above dividing this country leave that to congressmen who represent their own individual slice of the pie.
Trump getting one-quarter of that improvement will lead to landslide victory in 2020.
Even the Republicans that hate Trump will vote for him in 2020 if he's impeached for non-Russia crimes.
Independents will also not be happy with Democrats.
Comparing lying about a BJ with lying about collusion with a foreign government to attempt to win an election are two wildly different things. I don't see how a traitor will see a rise in popularity.

That's not what this is about, we're talking about Trump being Impeached for non-Russia crimes-

Despite the fact that Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are very different in their personalities, and there is a huge difference now between life in 1994 and life today, I seriously doubt the Democratic House will ever initiate impeachment charges on Trump without some solid, incontrovertible evidence of a criminal offense.
Clinton's failed impeachment is still a vivid lesson that both parties learned from. Even if Trump is charged with a criminal offense, I am pretty sure impeachment will not come until there is a rock solid bi-partisan coalition in both the House and Senate who mean to see it through to the end.
Even then, I don't think impeachment charges would be brought until there was full assurance that the House would find for impeachment and the Senate would convict overwhelmingly.
Things are going to have to become much, much worse than they are now, both for Donald Trump and for the United States for that to happen, and I also think that even if it does come about, impeachment would take up most of a year before it would begin.
As it should. It is a very serious business to force a President from office unwillingly. The tomfoolery of 24 years ago remains a good reminder to all of just how serious it is.

Even if they Impeach Trump for a criminal offense, they'll be making a mistake if its non-Russia-related.
