All contingent on Americans voting in a GOP Congress; Blackmail. Considering that the nation voted in a Democratic House, Trump's narcissism considers that a personal rejection and therefore he'll retaliate rather than reward.
Anybody with a couple of brain cells knew that was campaign rhetoric when it came out of his mouth. He said it too fire up the base that thinks tax cuts are a cure all for the people and the gvt. It is the oldest democracy trick in the book that the forefathers wrote about " bribing people with their own money". Funny how both parties practice this but in different ways but it works. The term " the ignorant unwashed masses" was not penned in vain.

It was a lie for the mid-term election. He just made it up thinking the rubes would buy it. Some did; most did not.

Actually, it does benefit the middle class but since most people don't have a clue about how your W2 income is taxed and the tax code you can be easily misled to believe that it benefited the rich which is not true.
Of course, if you don't pay federal taxes, to begin with, why would you bother to learn about federal taxation right? You'll just take the easy way and learn from the media who by the way are rich.
