Meningitis kills about 20-40% of adults it infects, and H1N1 about .02%. Both are pretty severe though making the combination FAR more deadly.
Yes....meningitis moves very fast

Very sad to see someone go so young. My condolences to her friends and family.

OMG that's horrible. I lost my best friend to meningitis when she was 32. That was tragic enough but to die at 26? Yikes. I was in health care for 25 years and I saw a handful of people die from flu. Most were elderly, but I remember one was in his 20's. It's hard to imagine anyone dying from influenza today. Meningitis, well it killed my friend over night.

If it was just days, the shot would have done her little good. The flu shot takes up to 2 weeks in your system to build up the immunity needed. That's why it's usually recommended you get the shot in late October or early November so it should be working before the flu season is in full swing.

People have odd ideas about the seriousness of influenza and other viral diseases, which are increasing in certain areas.

September 26th, 2018 – According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 80,000 Americans died of influenza and its complications during the 2017-18 season. ... In recent years, flu-related deaths have ranged from about 12,000 to — in the worst year — 56,000, according to the CDC.Sep 26, 2018
The only the highest death toll in modern history, this year may be worse.

How would you possibly know if she got a flu shot or not?

The vaccination contains dead viruses and cannot cause the flu.

The latest hypothesis is that menengitus weakened her immune system and defenses against the flu. Bacterial menengitus can cause death within hours.

Flu vaccines are only about 50% effective anyway. Even if she got it back in October, she could still get the flu.

Ahh -- your trolling skills are basic with this one.

There is nothing anywhere to indicate she had gotten a shot just days before -- or at all.

You know we are all smarter then to assume you are giving us facts, so you are just basically trying to shift the focus on a debate of vaccination or not.

You couldn't even show respect to this young' girl's life for a few hours.

But I will say -- this is not a political or controversial issue and should not be in this forum.
