Maybe we should have a YUGE crackdown on American firms that hire and profit from illegal labor and fund the wall with the YUGE fines we impose on them.
Thanks so much for your advice. I have a lot of family in Yuma, Mr no location given. I know all about la Raza.
As do I. Reconquista is alive an well in my neck of the woods. What's funny is that it was the Spanish that were here long ago not Mexicans. Mexico wasn't even a country till the mid 1800's. Mexico only occupied a small area of the southwest for a short period of time. We aren't known as a Mexican/Hispanic country in identity or culturally anyway. There are only about 35 million Hispanics in our country who are citizens or here legally the rest are here illegally. We never adopted Spanish as our national de facto language either it's merely a minority language. Yeah, La Raza.....the race.
"The demographics of Hispanic and Latino Americans depict a population that is the second-largest ethnic group in the United States, 52 million people or 16.7% of the national population, of them, 47 Million are American citizens."
This leaves 5 million either on a green card or illegal.
He has played this game so many times -- we don't take him seriously.
Do it -- shut down the border. Let him see the consequences of his actions.
Like his proud execution of his first Immigration Executive Order, the chaos that would ensure would be worth proving how incompetent he and his administration are.
(Remember -- that EO left folks with legal status stranded all over the world -- it was a disaster -- it was poorly written, poorly executed -- and the best thing for Trump -- so many disasters after this we all have dismissed this administration screw up).
When he says statements like this it is only for two reasons -- he really thinks most of us are stupid or he is stupid.
The US and Mexico trade about 700 billion dollars in goods and services annually. Texas alone sells nearly 100 billion worth of products to Mexico. Mexico provides 25 billion in food to the US. Mexico is a primary source of fresh produce for us. Anyone who has ever been to a border checkpoint has seen the semis lined up for miles bringing things north and south. Such a move would be devastating to the US economy. Trump, as we all know is an idiot but even he is probably not dumb enough to shut down trade for this monument to himself.
Mexico also supplies the US with illegal drugs, it would be devastating to a few industries if the flow of drugs was shut down, even temporarily.
Cannot justify waging a drug war, if there are no drugs coming in!

This article suggests that cartels use boats and other methods of getting those drugs into the country.
It is from 2015 and I suspect since then there may be even more innovation.
I think we are naive to think that the cartels are moving massive amounts of drugs by trucks, etc. And from this article -- it sounds like boats are the vehicle of choice.

"[Now] well over 95% of the drugs are moving on the water via container ships, non-commercial vessels, pleasure boats, sail boats, fishing boats. They also have fast boats which try to outrun our law enforcement assets.

There is no in between.
Maybe he's waiting for Coulter and Limbaugh to order it done.

Let's not forget a simple, small drone is capable of carrying what can only be described as a massive amount of fetanyl.
