But...but...but I thought the last election was a WIN for Trump - after all the GOP did pick up a couple of Senate seats. I thought the loss of the House was "no big deal" because the GOP still controlled 2/3rds of the government. Isn't that what all Trump's mindless minions have been saying over and over and over since the November election?
You mean they DIDN'T HAVE CLUE WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT?

Who'd a' thunk it?

I mean, it's good that she postponed it, but I don't see it as that big a win. The bigger win will be if he comes out of this shutdown with a big loss, i.e not having gained anything. That is critical, or else he’ll be doing shutdowns every time he can’t get the vote he wants from Congress.

Yes it is - and the longer it's going on the lower Trumps' approval rating goes.

Shutdown drags Trump approval to yearlong low

WASHINGTON (AP) — A strong majority of Americans blame President Donald Trump for the record-long government shutdown and reject his primary rationale for a border wall, according to a new poll that shows the turmoil in Washington is dragging his approval rating to its lowest level in more than a year.

The war isn't over, but she sure won this battle, and without any shouting, insults, or temper tantrums. I believe that woman is constructed entirely of satin and steel, and I am in awe.

Trump still has free speech. I sure haven't noticed any shortage of tweets or other public pronouncements.

He could give a major speech anytime he wants. Every day, or even twice a day, if he feels so moved. I'm sure FOX would cover any speech he cared to make, wherever he chose to make it. No one is stopping him, or even trying to.

All that happened here is Trump realized that making a SOTU speech anywhere but in the House makes him look ineffectual. Because, of course, for him it's the optics that matter.

But she surely outmaneuvered him, and all she had to do was take him at his word. No fancy footwork required.
