Hauling away beetle infested wood would only spread that problem. They are quite difficult to control. You can try burning or chipping it right there if you catch it quickly, but it's still dicey sometimes. If someone uses it for firewood, they should solarize it with plastic for a while.

What's funny, though, is the implicit belief that a state should be able to do whatever it wants and not be regulated by the government - an intrinsically conservative value that liberals claim to detest

Like spending YUGE amounts of $$$ in building other countries while telling Americans to p**s off?

First off, forest management is something that the USFS and BLM already do. It's not something Trump whipped up during breakfast... perhaps you should educate yourself on the matter. I'm sorry the media and democrat politicians have lied to you -- yet again -- and made it sound like Trump doesn't know what he's talking about, when he actually does.

Second,
Democrats have just as much responsibility here as Trump does! Stop bailing them out. They can work with him to reach a compromise and continue the flow of funding to FEMA. As usual with Trump's threats, he lays out a pretty clear plan on how the other side can avoid the threat altogether. In this case, improve forest management. If democrats really cared to do what's best for Californians, they would work with Trump to protect FEMA funding. Instead, they are politicizing it, at the expense of Californians, and passing the blame onto Trump. Lame.
Sorry, he is making it political and specific. He is not threatening red states with similar forest fire problems.

Also, there's this response:
https://twitter.com/GavinNewsom/stat...285737472?s=19
"Mr. President -- Just yesterday,
@OregonGovBrown
, @GovInslee
, and I sent a letter asking the federal government to work with us in taking on these unprecedented wildfires. We have been put in office by the voters to get things done, not to play games with lives."

And
https://twitter.com/GavinNewsom/stat...817353728?s=20

"Disasters and recovery are no time for politics. I’m already taking action to modernize and manage our forests and emergency responses.

The people of CA -- folks in Paradise -- should not be victims to partisan bickering."

Trump is politicizing it as he only threatened one state. As others have pointed out there are many western red states with the issue but he says nothing.

Ca wants to be a sanctuary state and they have plenty of money to offer and pay for illegals healthcare etc. so let them pay for the fires too. They were directly responsible for a lack on forest management that made them as bad as they were. They were warned about it years ago and thought they were smarter than the experts who warned them.

President Trump is Trolling the Left - FEMA is part of Homeland Security and there is no Funding to Send - No budget has passed for Homeland Security.

If you have the proof and evidence, that the state would not need the funds if forests were properly managed, please provide. Neither you, nor the president has furnished any fact based evidence of that.

BTW: Blasting state officials for their “gross mismanagement” of its forests, even though it is the federal government that manages many of California's, forests is a cruel political stunt.

That is what's so crazy about all of this. It's clear Trump hates California because it's the bluest and most anti-Trump state. His ego is so big, he takes it personally, and he seems himself "sticking it" to liberal California by cutting off federal disaster aid.

But the Camp fire in Paradise, California where most of the deaths and destruction took place, voted overwhelmingly for Trump in 2016.
