He could easily afford it. They would just be temp employees until the shutdown gets resolved, so not even a huge expense. Amazon is one company that has things a temp employee could do in almost every state.
Just imagine the positive PR he would get from doing that.
Not to mention a chance to stick it to Trump (who could also hire a bunch of people, if he really wanted to demonstrate how much he sympathizes).
Are you kidding? First, in most cases the skills wouldnt matchup between companies. Second, the furloughed workers will get all their back pay, then get right back on the government teat. Complete with pension.

I bet they could easily make a data base for temp jobs that match skills. Plus, a place like Amazon has plenty of temp jobs that don't require much in the way of skills. Why would Bezos care if they get back pay or not? He'd be doing it for the PR, and to stick it to Trump.
I believe you're allowed to take temp jobs. Especially a temp job designed for this specific situation.
Not all of them. Some of them are not allowed to take another job--there have been a number of employees interviewed, and I remember one of them stating that.
The situation sucks all around for them. Nobody enjoys working for free with the promise of future payment very fuzzy at the moment.
Kudos to AT&T, Verizon and other companies that have stated federal employees don't have to worry about payment while they are out.
