Yeah, they know that. It appears they're not buying the Trump tough-guy image. Now what?

No doubt they feel emboldened with Trump in charge. They were likely rubbing their palms together after that performance in Singapore last year.

Quickly, someone get a Dupont, Rothschild, or Rockefeller on the phone to see if war has been preordained.

Our hemisphere is us and Canada/Mexico... Neither of them are disputing the borders with the US

This is why China won't go to war, it has too many neighbors that would fight back. China wants a buffer zone for the same reasons Russia wants one, because they are surrounded by foreign military.

Here is the thing, If China thinks they can attack and sink 2 aircraft carriers, and call it a day they are VASTLY misgauging what the US would do in response. While we do not like taking loses, once we got attacked that way we would view it as a full on non-nuclear war. And we have spent a TON of money to be able to really do that well. They very clearly do not understand us at all. And that, is the most dangerous thing of all.
So China could kill 10K sailors aboard 2 ships and the US would STILL not retaliate with nukes? I doubt the US would even answer the phone as they sent the Stealth bomber to China with a nuclear payload!

China: Bribing Big Brother

"There are two ways China can enforce its sovereignty exert control over its territorial waters. The traditional response is to attack intruders with gunfire or missiles. Then there is the preferred Chinese method of swarming around the intruder with commercial, coast guard and even navy warships and combat aircraft. This has included causing collisions (often just “bumping”). China does not want a war with the United States, mainly because of the economic risks which could lead to more unrest inside China. Interference with seaborne trade and trading relationships, in general, would disrupt the Chinese economy and threaten the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) control. What China has demonstrated is a willingness to do everything short of war, especially if they can remain able to claim victim status."

That's my guess... they are wagging the dog to distract from the trade war.

i doubt that. if the chinese were to follow through on their threats, and trump stepped up to order the US military into action, pelosi and schummer both would probably side with the chinese to spite trump.

The Chinese have long term hegemonic goals in their hemisphere, and frankly, what’s wrong with that? We’re the only nation that can have a Monroe Doctrine?

the key word is territorial dispute.the islands that china claims are in dispute, and until those disputes are settled, they are still considered international waters, thus any attack on the US would be an act of war.

If anyone is not to be underestimated, it is the Chinese. If they used killer satellites to disable our electronic communications, effectively placing a protective bubble around their assets, all of our superior technology becomes worthless. And that is only a single scenario, there are others.

you seem to over estimate the chinese abilities, and way underestimate the US abilities. satellites are not the only technologies we have for electronic transmissions, or intelligence gathering. we also have the air and sea lift capabilities to fight a war half a world away, the chinese dont, and neither do the russians, even if they and china work together. we have multiple supply line capability, so cut one, and others can cover the gap.

there is also the quality of training that we own as well. and the level of command and control capability is also in our favor.

and while the loss of two carriers would hurt our capabilities, remember that we do have ten carrier battle groups we can call on to project power if needed. on top of that we have bases in the area we can also use to project military power.

and even if they used so called killer satellites to disable some of our satellites, they cant get them all. we can change the orbits of satellites as needed to cover any "bubbles" that might be created in a matter of a couple of hours at most.

We won't know until we have a strong president.

Watching his meek behavior alongside a murderous dictator in Helsinki should have convinced anyone watching.
