As was said several times above, movies are entertainment. Just enjoy it (or not). Perhaps the OP should limit himself to movies produced 50 years ago when male superheroes rescued damsels in distress and everyone lived happily ever after. You know when things were *realistic*. /sarcasm
Oh, I agree with you. I was just adding some relevant info to the superhero equation.

I guess I'm old fashioned. It bugs me in movies and TV when I see men hitting women. I don't care if the woman is a villain and the guy is the hero. It's just how I was brought up. Boys don't hit girls. Period. Well, what if she hits me first? Then you stand there and take it like a man.

But OMG, if a super hero WOMAN can beat man in a fight, all of a sudden we're concerned about whether it's realistic? And politicizing it?

LOL - someone seems awfully defensive.
I loved Wonder Woman as a movie. She was supposed to be able to do what she did. You'll be satisfied when Ms. Captain Marvel is the alpha fighter in the next Avengers movie. Plus I suspect that Cameron's next Terminator movie will feature a female bot tossing little old Arnie around.

BTW - I have received more positive feedback for this thread than anything else I have ever done here. Don't think I'm alone in my observations. The pack attacks are amusing.

Women and children are in shelters because they need a place to stay. You must live in a small town. There are men shelters all over the place. For homeless men, also check under bridges, in an alley, abandoned buildings, sleeping in their trucks, etc. Financial distress and homelessness affect both men and women.

If you mean shelters for battered spouses, male pride won't allow most men to admit to being battered but it happens.

I won't care one way or another what happens in any of those movies because I got super-heroe'd out several years ago. I just find the irony in your positions amusing.

I am also not surprised that you are not alone in your observations.

My husband and son still go to every new super hero movie that comes out. They don't seem to mind the strong women. But they are also very secure in their masculinity.

Thought I was getting woke after reading this thread. I can't hardly believe the female didn't prevail. Hollywood has mislead me.

I can't think of any reason to not want women to be strong, unless you're planning on stealing purses or assaulting them, of course--then you'd certainly want women to be easy targets.

Why wouldn't you want your wife or daughter to be able to fight off a bad guy--what's twisted about that? Would you really rather your wife or daughter take a beating and be a victim? Talk about twisted.

It was traditional in the old days to portray women as being weak, which was the way the bad guys liked it, and I'm glad those days are over.

Only weak guys and bad guys need women to be weak.

Yep.

Particularly ...odd... are the men who can't even take it in a movie/story that is fantasy from beginning to end, including the male characters.

I think the OP should have just stopped the thread title after just the first 2 words. I think that's the real story here.

It's not just super hero movies, and has nothing to do with being secure in your masculinity. It the ridiculous VIRTUE SIGNALING the entertainment industry, media, and corporate advertisers do which unreasonably glorify women, and minorities purely for some type of sympathetic gain to make themselves look "evolved". It is the height of condescension, and stupidity.

The real message being, "Gee we don't think women and minorities are as good as everyone else so we have to employ make believe in order to make themselves feel better about themselves so we can SELL MORE STUFF."
