GROUNDED: Nancy Pelosi Tried to Go Overseas During the Shutdown, President Trump Just Killed the Trip

President Trump sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday afternoon informing her an upcoming taxpayer funded, military escorted trip overseas has been postponed.

"Dear Madame Speaker. Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event it totally appropriate. I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative," President Trump wrote.

I had been expecting the SOTU kerfuffle to blow over. But with this, I am now starting to think not.

Unless Speaker Pelosi is willing to compromise with President Trump, that is.
Yah baby.

The issue isnt really border security - the wall has become a symbol for Trump - kind of his Captain Ahab moment chasing after Moby Dick. And like Ahab, it may well be his (political) demise.

She doesn't need to be flying all over the place right now. Good for Trump.

I was hoping Trump would prove me wrong, and be an adult about it, but I guess not!! Once a child always a child.

Trump really has no idea what he is doing. He’s not hurting Pelosi by his pettiness, he’s hurting our country. Pelosi was going into a war zone to give appreciation and thanks for our men and women putting their lives on the line for us. She also wanted to obtain national security and intelligence briefings by those on the front lines.

Congress can get those briefings at any time via our highly paid intelligence community. They have no need to be there, they make zero decisions on what we do in an active war zone, that is the President's job.

She wanted a week long, taxpayer funded, trip overseas. She is notorious for wasting tax dollars on personal travel.

She can do that after she does what she's paid for ..... managing the people's house. It's in a disorderly state at the moment.

So if it’s the president’s job, why hasn’t Trump gone to Afghanistan.
