I think Trump should pay for Melania's travel back and forth to Maralago, as it is so often--the taxpayers should not have to shoulder he lifestyle and according to Trump, he can afford it.. If Michelle used Air Force One every weekend to go off on jaunts, Obama would have been pilloried and possibly investigated by Gowdy or Chaffetz.
But, honestly, would you rather be in cold dreary Washington DC with a fat boring old guy in his 70s, who is not even respected by half of his staff, or be on the Atlantic Ocean in Palm Beach where it is a beautiful sunny 75 degrees?

Trump WANTED to use his own plane for their travel and was told the President AND 1st LADY HAVE to use military aircraft.

Melania is the very definition of nonessential. If the president was an honorable man, he would insist on setting the example for the country as he is forcing hundreds of thousands of workers into forced servitude for him. But don't worry, no one thinks of Trump that way, so no one is surprised by this.
When Pelosi starts making money hand over fist by charging the U.S. taxpayers for SS staying in her hotels, we'll talk. Right now, Trump is making more money off of us than he is losing in donating his salary, which is a pittance by comparison to what he's sucking up.

That has nothing to do with the point. If people can go without paychecks then she can endure the hardship of remaining at the White House rather than wasting tax payer dollars vacationing every weekend. Trump already wasted enough funds with his constant trips to Florida.

Nancy used a military plane to fly back and forth to san fran EVERY WEEKEND. You know when she goes on "vacation" EVERY WEEKEND.
Since 9/11, the Speaker of the House has been permitted to use an air force jet for all non political and personal travel. Hastert did so. Boehner declined as did Ryan.
Ryan routinely flew between DC and O’Hare when Congress was in session. They are accompanied by at least 2 Secret Service people. No one pays for their own flights. Routine flights are reimbursed through the Members Representative Allowance.
All Speakers of the House use Airforce jets for international travel.
The House is not in session at least one week a month and recessed between the end of July- early- mid September.

I don’t know. Why didnt Paul Ryan along with other Republicans donate their salaries, like Trump does?
As an aside, both Trump and Pelosi receive monthly Social Security Payments.
